Second day on keto

#1

I had crazy sugar cravings but I didn’t give In. I felt nauseous the entire day and I still do. I was a little under my fats also I was under 20g net carbs and I only met 50% of my protein goal. How do you guys get your protein up ?’!?

Over all it went well and I’m happy I didn’t give in to eating my daughters candies. Also I learned how to make cream cheese pancakes.

Go you!
Try steeping some fresh ginger in hot water.
Fingers crossed you feel better soon, KCKO.

Eating meat! What did your day’s meals look like?

By the way, great job not giving in. It is hard. So hard. But it does get easier the longer one stays away from sweets.

(Kellyn ) #4

Make sure you are getting enough salt as well to prevent the Keto flu. Great job by the way, avoiding temptation. You got this!

#5

I had bacon avocado and eggs for breakfast.
Rib eye steak salad for lunch and after the gym I had tuna with mayo. Kept it simple cause I felt nauseas. And for a snack I had a tablespoon of peanut butter. What do y’all have for snacks, if you have them. ?

(Chris) #6

Are those meals filling you up? Maybe skip breakfast and just have a bigger post-gym lunch instead. Snacking is permitted but can lead to bad habits (reaching for easy stuff, I’m guilty of this in the past for sure).

Congratulations on not giving in! It gets easier, I promise!

What’s your keto calcs like? How much protein, if you don’t mind me asking? When I started October 2, it was the fat portion that’s hard to fill.

@Gatahavit BTW, cream cheese pancakes are the bomb!

My daily calorie goal is 1,433
110g fat
20g carbs
92g protein

I’m 5’1 and now weigh 136

I also have a very active job and do also weight train and cardio for 10-15 min.

I’m so used to snacks and having small meals with high carbs I’ve found it difficult consuming all those fatty meats and oils which I think is what was causing the nausea? But yea I will try that out, skipping breakfast for a bigger post gym meal. Thank you !

(Chris) #11

Oils would cause that…if you can find fats that aren’t necessarily oils that may be helpful. Or, perhaps your body is telling you you’ve had enough fat. Macros are tough on keto sometimes.

Our macros are so close! 92g of protein is 3.24 ounces, about the size of an average adult hand plus/minus.

You may need to eat more fat . It still gets me, I know. Slather butter on your steak, saute your veggies in butter…

You can do this! The people here are super SUPPORTIVE!

I love this forum! Everyone’s been so nice :weary:

What do you usually eat in a day?! I need more food ideas.

My meals are simple. Keto pancakes were the fanciest I’ve prepped :joy:.

Breakfast:
Keto Pancakes Rolled with Salame
Coffee + HWC + Butter (Weird THEN, not anymore)

Lunch:
Microwaved Soft Scrambled Egg with HWC + Butter (Like a THEME)

Dinner:
Whatever Meat and Veggies we have. Grilled Meat, Sautéed Vegetables.

Sorry for the long post. That was FIRST WEEK. I slept A LOT.

2nd Week…My appetite went away, but I kept eating on schedule and added cashews because I wasn’t getting enough fats. Cashews because we had them. There are far BETTER NUTS.

3rd Week…NOT HUNGRY. But ate on schedule.

4th Week , I read here that I shouldn’t force feed myselft and there is Intermittent Fasting (IF). I’m on my 3rd Day. Coffee + HWC + Butter for breakfast and lunch.

My grazing time is 5:30-7:30PM to get all my macros in, about 1,189 calories per my keto calc results. I get to have dinner with my son and hubs.

BTW, I am 4’11” and 123lbs. Prediabetic.

I hope this helps.

@KetoKailey

If you mean that eating fat still gets to you, I agree.

I used to say - and still sometime do - that I scandalize myself every time I eat because of all the fat. I am both un-educating myself and un-propagandizing myself. :smirk:

#16

Are you sure you need that much protein?

I cannot account for your activity, I am pretty sedatery but I am at about 60 - 70 protein a day and am slightly above average height and medium build at my ideal weight (not there at all!)

The formula is 1 - 1.5g per kilo of either lean body mass or ideal body weight, depending on who you ask

#17

Helps a lot. Thank you !

(Damon Chance) #18

That’s not how the protein should be calculated. 92 grams of protien is not equal to 92 grams of meat. Even chicken breast has a bunch of water. Check your protein source in a nutrition calculator to see. For example 4oz of 93% lean (yuck!) ground beef is only 23g of Protein. Obviously the more deliciously fatty cuts you buy will be even less.

A pleasure! An ounce of ribeye has approximately 6g of protein per ounce. It’s a fun math. 2 eight oz steaks in a day is a little over for me if I multiplied correctly .

Wishing you a wonderful evening!
