Just looking into the Keto plan but so afraid I am going to gain weight! I only need to lose 10 - 12 pounds, so is this going to work for me?
Scared to try it!
What is your height and weight? You might be fine just cutting back on carbs (alcohol, bread, pasta, pop, candy, dessert). Keto sounds a bit extreme at first but it does work.
Why would you gain weight? I eat waaaay less food on keto than I did before. Let’s say you’ve been eating a regular diet, including bread, potatoes, snacks, and desserts. If you switch to keto, you’ll be eating fewer carbs, but you probably won’t be eating more fat or protein (and you’ll almost certainly be eating fewer calories).
I lost around 17 pounds. Cutting out the carbs (especially, for me, milk) did the trick. I’ve always loved meat, so am probably eating the same amount of protein that I have always eaten. For fat, I use a half avocado, creamy salad dressings, butter on veggies. Keto does work. It’s hard to overeat fat and protein. Very easy to overeat carbs.
Some people think, “All that FAT?”
It’/s still part of the unsupported dogma so many people were taught.
I’m sure not an expert on Keto, as I haven’t been on it but about 10 weeks. I also don’t have a lot to lose. I think it is easier to lose weight quickly if you have a lot to lose. I lost 6 pounds quickly, gained 2 back, and haven’t lost any in about a month. I am very consciously breaking the habit of night time snacking. This is the hardest thing for me, and I think it may be the key to dropping those last 5 or so pounds (and inches).
I don’t mean to make this thread about me, just wanted to say it’s not magic, but if you stick with it, you will feel so much better physically.
You eat fat to get your body accustomed to using fat, not sugar, for energy. Then, once you become “fat adapted” your appetite will adjust to what your body needs. Don’t broadcast to all your friends what you are doing, at least until you start seeing results, lol. There are so many naysayers out there, it can drag you down and make you doubt your decision. Good luck!
