Say what doc?

(Consensus is Politics) #1

This is something I’ve kept quiet for a while. I didnt want to discuss it until I had it looked at again.

About 10 years ago, when dealing with kidney stones, I had a CT scan performed to locate more stones and sizes of them. Came out clean! The stone that passed was a solo act, whew!

But the doctor had a somewhat grim look on his face, and said he’d be right back, and walked into the hall. I overheard him speaking to someone about needing an immediate consult with oncology. whaaaaaaa?

So i sit there and stew for about 30 minutes. This is the VA after all, he probably went to lunch and forgot all about me (I have grown quite accustomed to that).

Instead of my doctor returning it was the one from oncology. He comes in, sits at the computer and examins the images. Glances at me and says, “hmm”…

:flushed: wtf? I just sat there quietly. He had the best poker face ever. Dont ever want to play cards with this guy. Its like he has had botox shots to remove all facial movements as well as wrinkles. He was a statue.

Then finally, “Mr Johnson, do you know why you’re here today?” I was this close :ok_hand: to making an offhand remark about “owing it all to my mom, because without her I wouldnt be here”. But i choked that back. Told him about my kidney stone saga.

He said “the kidney stones are what we are worried about. Its this mass right here. It diesnt beling there. How ling have you had that?”

Gulp… “Its news to me. I have no idea.”

“There is the possibility that it’s malignant. I recomend we keep an eye on it and see how it goes” (but I swear I heard ‘see how it grows’. Feeling like shit now. He proposed that i come in again in six months and have it imaged again. It was nearly 2 cm in diameter, and if began to change shape or grow into a problem, then we will deal with it then. Great.

So periodically over the next several years i would go in for CTs or MRI’s. Done both about half dozen times each. It was growing, very slowly. By summer of 2017 it was up to 2.7 cm. The now third Dr I was seeing said it doesnt seem bad, a d we will keep an eye on it. And that was that. Odd thing though, I never got the call for the next imaging session.

About two months later Im dx with T2DM. The floor fell through. That kidney tumor was no longer on my mind. Now im worried about neuropathies, and amputations. :man_facepalming:t2: Uhg… so I completely forgot about that growing little monster on my kidney.

Until last month. I realized I hadnt been seen about its growth in quite sometime. I felt its about time to get some pictures done. See what Living Ketogenic migt have done to it. I could hope, right? All this talk about tumors (well, cancer anyway) needing glucose to survive . Is it possible? Could it have gotten better in the past year and a half?

Since 2009 this tumor had grown about 1 mm per year. Until 2017. At which time it was 27mm at its widest point, its almost perfect sphere. So last week I had the MRI done and last night I got to look at it.

Now, the doctors report says they see no change in it since 2 years ago. Well, I have the images from last time and this time. And measuring this little beastie very very carefully, there is a 2mm reduction. So it has shrank!

I cant say for sure that its because of keto. But it was growing gradually, and the only change to anything was my diet. So I’m going with keto as being the trigger for causing it to shrink now. :sunglasses:

I’ll probably have another MRi in another year maybe. I know they are tired of seeing me. “Oh, him, the guy that said he cured his diabetes. He’s back again huh? Always asking for more blood tests. Asking if we can check these ofd things to.”

Funny thing, now everytime I get blood work drawn, they take 2 or 3 vials. And do about a dozen or so tests without me prompting them. :sunglasses:

Two negative things to note on that same blood test that was done pre MRI to screen kidney function (because of the contrast dye, it can harm weak kidneys). My Sodium was .1 lower that it should be, and potassium was .1 higher that it should be.

Ive been supplementing a lot of salt. Guess i need to up my game there. Potassium though, that will be easy to cut back on. The rest of my bloodwork, perfectly normal.

Hell, yeah.

I’ve watched a couple videos on keto curing cancers, I’ll post 'em when I locate 'em among the hundreds of keto videos I have about it curing other things.

I’ve been eating keto and I have breast cancer. Between God, chemo, and keto it is well under control. It’s not cured yet, though.

My story is here:. www.KetoCancerMom.com

Good luck in your fight!

That is so interesting. I wish you well.:slightly_smiling_face:

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #7

It must be a glucose-sensitive tumor (probably benign, or they’d have operated already), and you are seeing the Warburg Effect in action. Glad it seems to be slowly going away, benign or not. :+1:
