If you have been on an aircraft before, you notice that the flight attendant will advise you to put your mask on if the cabin loses pressure.

However, they tell you to do it first before helping others. But why? Should you help children first?

By looking after your self first you can help others help you and you can pay it forward.

In first aid you’re taught that first aider safety is paramount. Make sure you’re safe and secure before helping others. An injured or dead first aider is no good to anybody.
