Salt sole? What do you think of it?

Himalayan sea salt sole. Does it really work? And if I’m supposed to supplement between one and teaspoons a day of salt into my diet, how many teaspoons of the sole do i put in my glass of water?

Is that sole as in shoe-leather or as in fish?

You have educated me! I had to go look it up. I would say this is probably a very good way to keep your sodium level up and your electrolytes in balance. Now we just need to get some science guru in the group to tell us how to calculate the sodium in a teaspoon of Sole. It’s been WAYYYY too long since I did any calculations like that. :flushed:

A U.S. teaspon is 5mL, so that is approximately 5g of liquid, of which 26% is sodium chloride, or 1.3 g. If I remember correctly, Na is about 40% of NaCl by weight, so we are talking about 0.52 g of sodium. Very roughly, anyway. The actual number is probably a bit larger, I would guess.

Exactly what I thought. How many teaspoons of the Sole equals 1-3 teaspoons of actual Himalayan pink salt ingested?

Could you please dumb this way down into how many teaspoons of my sole water should I be drinking a day:-)

One teaspoon of salt (5 mL by volume) weighs 5 grams. So the equivalent of one tsp of pure sodium chloride would be 3.8 tsp of sole. About 6.6 tsp of sole would give you your sodium for the day.

Ty for doing the math!

Whoa. 500mg sodium in a teaspoon. That would be a huge help in the “need more salt” front. I’m going to try this next time I’m home.

There is also 2,000 mg of sodium in a teaspoon of sodium chloride.
