Should I be concerned if my salt contains dextrose? I am uninformed, and have trouble when navigating the centralized internet search, from deciphering propaganda from fact online, therefore look to anecdotal peoples experiences on here.
Salt Containing Dextrose
It’s a minuscule amount but if you have a problem with it (I would have out of principle), buy salt without dextrose next time.
If it’s just about eating a super tiny amount of sugar… You surely eat way more from your food. I eat way, way, way more even on my strictest carnivore days but that is natural and that makes a difference to me (and I can’t avoid it anyway). I dislike eating added sugar so I still try to avoid items containing it especially if it’s easy to avoid. As far as I know, it’s a problem for American salt with iodine but even there, surely there are some other options? Or getting iodine from elsewhere, not from salt.
I doubt it makes much difference, I avoid salt with sugar or starch in it out of general annoyance.
I just buy sea salt or “rock salt” which usually has a little bigger grain, so it is not as prone to clumping or sticking together, so they feel no need to add anything. It also essentially has all of the trace minerals you need. I get my iodine from seafood so don’t need white table salt.
No, there’s not enough to matter, and if it wasn’t in there you’d have a solid brick of salt. OR, just buy sea, Himalayan or Celtic salt which won’t have it.
