Salicylate Sensitivity and Coconut Oil

#1

While searching for something else I stumbled upon this article and the mention of salicylate sensitivity (it is the main ingredient in aspirin but is in a lot of other food). Apparently coconut oil and olive oil are very high. The list of possible symptoms is quite extensive

@Saphire Thanks for the information. I’ve been experiencing food intolerance indicators lately. I have been relying on several coconut products for easy fatty breakfasts on a daily basis (I have an early IF window and skip dinner). I love coconut but am going to cut it out for a while to see if the symptoms abate. Seems like every time I turn around I have to cut another food. I feel better but shit this gets old.

Something that occurs to me, minimally processed Coconut oil is generally considered anti inflammatory. Maybe the salicylate is the reason?

So I stopped eating all things coconut, and my markers for inflammation are just about gone and my stomach is way happier. I’m hoping salicylates are my last food issue. Topically applied, coconut oil really helped my skin - I’m wondering if the salicylates had something to do with that anti-inflammatory effect also. Thanks for the OP @Saphire, I don’t think I would have attributed my issues to salicylates otherwise.

Happy it worked out. Was really random as I mentioned I looking for something else and saw this and figured with all the coconut we eat it might be important
