Fairly new to keto (4 weeks in) and absolutely loving it! I wouldn’t go as far as calling myself a runner, but I do enjoy it and run a few half marathons each year. Since starting on keto I have found that my runs of 3-5 miles have been difficult. Sluggish start and struggle to finish. I will add that I am also practicing intermittent fasting (8p-12p). Can anyone share similar experiences and tips to get through? Thanks!

I have listened to several podcast that discuss running fasted or Keto. Most say that initially it goes pretty much like you just shared but in time they find it gets easier and they become more efficient runners. Good luck.

It’s completely normal for you to notice a dip in performance at first, whatever your activity of choice is. Be patient, ease up on yourself, and once you’re adapted you’ll notice you get back to where you were before, if not even better.

I found that pushing up my protein to the higher end of recommendations helped me, but it still took a solid 3 months to really get back to where I was. If you are restricting calories, that can make it harder.
