Resting Heart Rate after extended Keto

(Jeff Barry) #1

I’m new to this forum but I’m been in Keto since last March and I’m down 75lbs sitting at 160 and working on the last 10… sloooooowly.

I was laying in bed last night and I noticed my resting heart rate is MUCH lower than it used to be (90-100) and is now sitting between 66 and 72bpm.

Would this be Keto related do you think or a product of the weight loss?

Cheers,
Jeff

It’s both? According to this article resting heart rate is tied to overall cardiovascular health. One of the factors that contributes to cardiovascular health is body size. I don’t know that you can disconnect body size from the effects of Keto.

I was curious so I stopped st two different places today on the way home.

Last year at this time I was hospitalized with hypertension and super high blood pressure. I thought I was having a heart attack. Today my resting heart rate was 68 to 76 all day except waking to the stores below. Over all I’m happy with the improvements. :ok_hand::ok_hand:. I’m getting full labs on Friday for the first time as well. Can’t wait.

My resting heart rate was around 65 to 70 before I started keto in Jan 2016. Losing 50 pounds got it down to 60 or upper 50s, and starting marathon training has dropped it to the mid 40s
