Restarting keto after holidays

(Hoteski) #1

So I’ve had 2 holidays in the past month. First one all inclusive in turkey and I mostly managed to keep most of my meals keto friendly thou the deserts got the better off me. The second was self catering in Corfu and well whilst I didn’t eat masses of food due to the heat I didn’t stick to the keto diet at all. It’s now a week after coming back from these holidays and I’ve been slowing getting back too the diet again as I just prefer this way of eating and I still have 4 stone to loose. My weight is pretty much the same as before the holidays so I’m happy I haven’t put loads of weight on and it tells me that I can if I want to have carbs every so often so long as I know I won’t be loosing weight if I do. Just looking for some words of encouragement I guess. My next goal is to get down too 13stone anything. I’m 14st10lp which is 206lp for anyone outside the UK. 195lp is my next goal or close to that. I know I need to excersize so back to the gym I go… I’ve been very active whilst off even doing 100 flights of stairs a day for a week. But now I’m back in the office and getting to the 10k plus steps is a struggle … Hence the gym.

Breakfast was 2 eggs and a couple of gulps of cod liver oil.

I’m so close to having a body I’m no longer embarrassed off I got to do it.

‘…a couple of gulps of cod liver oil’:nauseated_face::nauseated_face:

It’s good to see that you’ve kept the weight off as I’m off self-catering to the Canary Islands in 10 days time and hoping to stick with Keto as much as I can (although a few beers may take me over my normal carb limit ).

Best of luck reaching you goals :grinning: KCKO

Í Was deliberately very active.lots of walks and swimming. I did do a 100 flights of stairs challenge per day for most of my Turkish holiday to make up for desert

Just get right back to it and don’t ever guilt yourself. You’re making great progress! We all have special occasions when we stray from keto foods…the real key (for me, anyway) is to not stray too long. Personally, I can’t get back into keto slowly…it’s got to be asap or I start to feel like crap.

I’m attempting to get all the lingo down. I know a holiday is what we here in the states call a vacation (we only use the term holiday for national holidays) and I finally took the time to look up how much weight a stone was, but what do you mean by “self-catering”? I’m not used to this term when it comes to vacationing.

Anyhow, besides my obvious ignorance, it’s great that you want to get right back to it. I’ve found that a two day cheat/binge for me set me back a good week, and I’m still struggling with being able to do any fasting again. But as you didn’t gain any weight, you’re fat adaption is probably more firmly set than mine. I’m toying with simply going back to the basics and following a week or two of the meal plans that I set up when I first started Keto. I think I may need more structure when I’m struggling. More meal prep and less winging it. I don’t know if any of that would pertain to your experience or not, but I thought I’d throw it out there.

Good luck with everything. Let us know how it goes.

So self catering is when you get s hotel room with s kitchen and you sort your own food out or go out to meals and pay for them where as all inclusive the food and drinks are all included in the price so you don’t have to go out to find food. Today I went to the gym and found that I could do my workout at a very good pace. I’m guessing all the walking up and down stairs and up hill in high heet kept me fit and healthy so I’m very pleased my fitness levels are actually better than before I went on holiday.

I like to keep my food simple but amazing tasting. Last night I had a salad with a big fat jucy steak and on the side I had fried onion and mushrooms with cream cheese and a table spoon of bernie sauce. I usually use steak seasoning and let it rest on the side with seasoning for an hour then cook it and let it rest a few minutes afterwards then pop the juices into the sauce to make it extra tasty.

Today I had. 2 eggs hard boiled. One mozzarella ball. Basil infused olive oil. Handful of cherry tomatoes. Avacado and a slice of ham. I also had a couple of gulps of cod liver oil. Oh and I also take ashwaganda drops when i keto as it really seems to help my body adapt and shift the weight. It tastes like cold tea I’d say but when I take it I have it with some water.

I started to eat keto just after Christmas and I stay because the food is just so much better. Everything just tastes so god damn good where as I find processed food really just doesn’t cut it anymore. I rarely have something filled with carbs and think to my self omg that was amazing. Where as the keto food I cook or prepare myself tastes insanely good.

At first I struggled to work out what to eat but then I just threw myself into it and now after a month of holidays (vacation) im finding going back to keto to be fine. I’ve got 59lp to loose having lost 31lp already so I have no choice but to stick to it as nothing else ether works or suits me.

Day 7 of the return of keto since holidays and I’ve lost 4lp and stuck to the diet religiously. Been to the gym 4 times and work my but off each time apart from today. I still worked hard but had to cut it short as I am feeling weak and light headed again. I need to eat something but not hungry. Really don’t feel like eating. Other than that it’s going well and I’m hopeful to get to my next goal of 13stone something. Got 6lp to loose. Or 4lp according to the body composition scale at the gym. I did that this morning with a trainer and my body fat % has gone down 3.6% the fat around my organs has gone down as has the weight. Hydration seems to be an issue still. The scales indicate I am dehydrated. My muscle mass had also gone down but that doesn’t surprise me after not going to the gym in 3 or 4 months. Plus my protein is moderate rather than high due to diet.
