Relax and enjoy this process

After over two years keto and over three years total tracking food meticulously and restricting calories, in the last few weeks I decided enough was enough and stopped tracking, stopped counting, started blood testing ketones and glucose as well as really paying attention to my body and how it reacts to different things.

My last day of tracking was July 13th.

As of July 21st my weight was 118.6lbs - today it is 117.8lbs - my waist measurement is also slightly less at just under 26 inches. I can see physical changes too, I can see where my body composition is changing (the last stubborn wobbly bits are disappearing!)

More importantly though, I FEEL BETTER!

I’ve taken away the stress of having to count / record / restrict and just give my body what it needs to function and be healthy. I’ve stopped focusing of fat loss and started focusing on feeling better. I’ve also changed my gym routine to be intuitive rather than set body parts each day.

I see so many of you stressing about calories, macros, weight loss, the scale not moving one day / week, or that dreaded increase… I know it’s important, I know it means a lot to you. But sometimes you just need to ease up on yourself and trust the process.

Constant restriction causes stress, both physically and emotionally. Constant hunger (restricting food caused by calorie counting) means your body is not getting the fuel it needs to perform the way it needs to, which causes stress. As I’ve said before, you can’t expect a car to perform at its best if the fuel tank is low and that is the same for our bodies.

Constant stress produces a cortisol reaction which, regardless of how “perfect” everything else is, will make your body hold on to its fat stores.

Let go of some of the control, enjoy the process, enjoy being in tune with your body, focus on improving your health and just let things happen.

I know some of you will be thinking “but some of us NEED to count / track / stress / obsess” but I wonder how many of you thinking that have actually tried letting go of the control and allowing your body the time it needs to heal properly rather than just focusing on weight loss?

Just this morning’s random thoughts… I’ve had a few days off work with lots of me time so am nice and chilled :heart:

I have stopped weighing my food, although I still weigh myself daily, and measure my waist occasionally.
