First off, I am 68, so thanks for making me feel young. I also eat way more calories on keto/carnivore thanI did when I was 70 pounds heavier. If I’m hungry, I eat. And somehow after 2 1/2 years and basically being in “maintenance”, I am still very slowly losing fat/weight.
Refuting CICO platitudes
That is good to know. My doctor is wanting me to lose down to 180. While in the military I weighed 215 to 230. I now weigh 209. I personally will be happier to weigh about 190.
I think it comes down to beginning with a goal you already know is achievable. Then take stock and set a new goal. Or not…. If you stay strict keto, you will likely continue to lose weight and inches as the months/years progress.
I started at 218. My goal was 180. 2 1/2 years later (while eating for maintenance) I am at 147 and my body shape is still changing… which eventually means smaller clothes.
Have seen or read the book “End your Carb Confusion “ by Eric C. Westman, MD. It lays out “the adapt your life diet” which has become my new roadmap for my eating lifestyle. There are three phases. Phase 1 is eating no more than 20 total carbs, Phase 2 is eating no more than 50 total carbs and Phase 3 is eating less than 150 total carbs. I am following Phase 2 and some days being even stricter in Phase 1. I also intermittent fast between 16 and 22 hours each day depending on my schedule and what my stomach is telling me. My key is very low sugar intake. I slip once a week and add a half a banana into my smoothie. By the way I plan and create my smoothie a head of time as I plan my micronutrient intake for the day. I have charts and graphs that go back to when I started this lifestyle and even farther back to when I was eating a traditional diet. The visual is so telling.
For me, eating to maintenance just means I’m done counting and weighing and worrying… food wise, nothing changes.
You are ahead of me… but this is what I am finding as well. Slow but sure change of shape leading to the need for new and smaller clothes.
