Reduction of Scars/Damage

(Failed) #1

Today is day 111 for me and I noticed something incredible, to me at least.

When I was eight years old, my middle finger on my left hand got slammed in a car door and shattered. So for the past 62 years, I’ve had a big lump at the base of my finger nail, a scar, and the rounded area at the base of my nail had a large V-shape cut into it.

I don’t have a previous photo of it, but this is what it looks like today:

On a side note, does anybody know what those ridges on my fingernails mean? is that something everybody has?

Congrats on the big lump at the base of your middle finger disappearing, Dee, that is fantastic.

I have seen lines appear on nails, or them turning yellow, from not letting them breathe, and living nail polish on almost all the time. I don’t know if you normally wear nail polish a lot or not, but that is the only time I have seen that happen.

I just googled it and found this:

One of the reasons is aging, so it might just be that, and nothing to worry about =).

Thanks, Susan. I read the article and I think I’m going to go with “I’m getting old.” Gah! Turniing 70 has really freaked me out.

I’ve been paying special attention, looking for indicators of healing caused by my Keto lifestyle…yesterday I realized the the big floater in my right eye is gone! I’ve had it for YEARS. So cool.

That’s great! I have several small floaters and one really big floater in my left eye. Hopefully I’ll see a reduction Like you.

How long did it take?

I’ve was Paleo (way too many carbs)for 3 years, but went full on Keto in mid July of this year. The floater was there at my last eye appointment in June, so I guess it took about 4 months, although I just realized it was gone yesterday so maybe even sooner.

I have had a huge reduction in the amount of floaters, it used to look like the night sky when I closed my eyes.

I have noticed some small epidermoid keratin cysts I have had for probably 40 years are completely gone, they usually need to be excised. I have also had some warts disappear this year, but not all of them.

Some of my surgical scars seem to be getting more flexible and softer, especially the large one from my kidney transplant. I think much of it may be due to autophagy from regular fasting.

About the nails…mine are thin and have lines too, and break easily. I have recently read that the most common cause is protein deficiency although in my case that seems unlikely! I’m considering trying collagen for a while. My skin on my forearms gets broken vessels easily and my skin seems thin to me and is easily damaged there still, but it does seem to be less frequent now after I discontinued daily baby aspirin in February. I used to bleed more and now it’s mostly just splotches of reddish purple when it happens. :cowboy_hat_face:

My husband has been on a baby aspirin a day for several years. I showed him the article where they recommend that you do not take it several weeks ago. I asked him the other day if he was still taking it, and he said yes because I haven’t finished the bottle yet. Sometimes you just wanna shake people.

This sounds like my hubby, he hates to waste anything, and likes to hold on to stuff for yearsssss just in case he needs it… like well he has a pencil case from when he was little, I guess some of it is also sentimental reasons for some of the things, and I too have a few things like that of course, I guess most of us do.

Lol! When I was about the same age, I slammed my thumb in a car door. Lost the nail, and when the new nail grew in, it never completely reattached to the nail bed. So I always had a “u” shaped area in the middle of the nail that extended from the front edge to about half way back. It was that way for over 50 years. About two years on keto now, and it has almost completely reattached!
