Reasonable Expectations

#21

Even though keto works really well for me, I don’t generally recommend it to people. Because I don’t think keto is an easy WOE to follow if you’re not totally committed to it. And many of the newbies don’t come in with that kind of commitment. It’s “I want to lose 20 pounds to fit into a wedding dress,” or some other short-term goal, or wanting to have cheat day each week, or some other mindset that shows they really don’t have a good understanding of what keto is.

I stay on keto because I feel better and because my health issues are clearing up The 1 pound a week weight loss is nice too, and certainly one of my main goals. But feeling better–all the NSVs are what keeps me-- and I suspect, most people who succeed at this WOE, on keto.

Feeling better and healing your body are realistic expectations to me.

I’m happy with the water weight I have lost, and would be thrilled to lose a bit more after I am fat adapted. My main reason for starting Keto was to lower my trigylcerides, so I will find out in a couple of months if that has happened. That will be very satisfying if it has.
