Random hunger pangs

New to this site. Not sure if I’m even doing this right. Lol.

So I’ve been doing Keto since August 2018. Lost about 33 so far. I had gotten off track towards the end of last year, and sorta got back on track in January. I decided to buckle down the first of Feb, and have done great. Even added in some exercise every day. I’ve lost 9.2 so far this month. My question is, about 2-3 days ago, I started getting really hungry. Like, actually feeling hunger pangs, which I never have before. Before Keto, I would eat according to my cravings or just because I was bored, and after Keto, I was just never hungry. So what’s with the sudden insatiable hunger? I ate dinner tonight of chicken and broccoli, a decent amount, and within 30 minutes, my stomach was growling. What’s the deal? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!!

I have days when I’m hungry all day. Other days, I can barely eat. It doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about.

On days you are hungry, add more fat.

Could be because you added the exercise.

I feel like I’ve eaten a good amount of fat. But maybe not. It’s just so new for me.

That’s kinda what I was wondering. But the exercise thing is new, so I wasn’t sure. lol

I did a search on “appetite keto exercise” and here’s just one of the results:

Oh that’s great to know. How in the world can I keep within my macros being so hungry?

The only macro you have to worry about is carbs. Stay below the number you’ve decided for yourself and eat when you’re hungry. If you’re using a macro calculator you might try adjusting the level activity you programmed and see if it gives you a different set of numbers but honestly if you’re asking your body to work hard feed it what it needs.

I believe it’s a natural response to losing a lot of weight in fairly short amount of time. I probably went 90 days, averaging about half the calories I used to consume but eventually the hunger did return. Granted it’s a much more polite hunger than the carb-driven one I used to know and I like to think it’s my body saying “Hey, we can’t keep losing all this weight with no end in sight. We need to stablize it”.

What helped me get the idea of really, really looking forward to my next meal, out of my head, was trying to incorporate a few feasting days into my week. By feasting I mean eating until I am almost full. I might have typically eaten what I thought was 50% of my stomach capacity during my low calorie days and felt zero hunger a half hour later but bumping that to about 80% of my stomach capacity seems to push my hunger reset button.

I totally forgot about adjusting for the fitness level. That’s a good idea.

That’s a great idea too!

If you try it, please let me know how it goes for you.
