Hello, I am trying to figure out how to raise my ketone levels. I have been Keto since January of this year and all though I have lost 30 pounds since then (mostly in the first few months and with lots of exercise) I am seriously stuck with the weight loss. My readings always say .08 morning and evening. I feel like my body is fighting me on staying in ketosis. Anyone have tips for me? I lift weights every other day, I fast and include mct oil in my everyday routine. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Raising my ketone levels
If you’re keeping the carbs low and still alive, you’re in ketosis. If weight loss is your goal, then ketosis is just a path to fat adaptation. The goal isn’t maintaining any given level of ketones.
Stalls are part of the process and happen to everyone. It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. One great way to break through a stall is to incorporate fasting.
I have been testing my blood ketones as of late and they have been as high as 2.8. I also am in weight loss mode and intermittent fast daily 16-20 hours and eat two meals. I also think it is important to watch your carb intake and refrain from eating too many, if at all, bars, shakes, desserts and the like.
Dr. Phinney advises (1) reduce your carbohydrate, and if that doesn’t work, (2) increase your fat.
