Quitting keto for a week

(James Doyle) #1

I’ve been eating keto 5 months and loss a serious amount of weight. No cheating and only consuming water. I’m going to America for a week and spending 6 days in New Orleans. For that week I won’t to drink beer and eat Po Boys and unhealthy food and sugary drinks. Will I gain a lot of weight in that week. I don’t want to balloon up on the holiday and look crap

Probably not a huge amount, but you will gain some and might feel crappy. Just get back on the keto bandwagon when your vacation is done. I hope you have fun out there in New Orleans!

Yes,
a lot is relative to where you are now,
And you may want to try and see what it feels like ahead of time, I would hate to go to New Orleans with a headache, I just crashed out of keto after 3 months and it was pretty bad, keto DT’s and that was with a small amount of starch. I can only imagine what a beignet would do to me.
Besides they don’t have any beer to right home about down there, its about the bourbon!

KCKO have fun.

Perfect example of Keto being a lifestyle and not just a diet. I’m with you 100%. A trip to New Orleans means you have to have gumbo, red beans and rice, muffuletta, and above all, beignets. We haven’t even touched on the sugary boozy beauties.

I’d normally say not to break ahead of time, but for a big trip like this, I’d tend to agree with @In2steam and maybe add some carbs in a couple days before so that you’re hopefully not feeling sick on your trip.

Then when you get home, get back on the horse and KCKO

Abita is pretty good, but that’s about it.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #6

I don’t remember what they drink down in New Orleans. In fact, I barely remember anything about being there . . . so I must have had a good time!

Don’t worry about it, a week off is nothing. Enjoy yourself.

I did 5 days off for my honeymoon And got back on track once we got back home. No regrets And had a blast! Enjoy yourself

Definitely try more famous New Orleans cuisine (look some up). You can get a po boy and beer anywhere in America. They have gumbo, jambalaya, if you like shellfish there are crawfish boils, beignets aren’t something I see other places. You could look up “New Orleans Diners, drive-ins, and dives” It’s a show we have here that shows off random not chain restaurants and find one of the places on the list there to try.

Yes! Go to cafe du monde and eat a beignet for me. I stayed Keto in New Orleans and I regret it so much. Eat carbs while you’re there!
