Questions on 16/8 fasting

(Frances Reyna) #1

So I started the 16/8 fasting 3 days ago. I will eat my breakfast at 11am. When I’m at work I can usually eat my lunch and then eat dinner when I get home. But on my days off, I have a hard time eating after my breakfast coz I’m still full. I am worried that I am not putting enough calories in my body during the fast. Should i be worried Or should I not? My breakfast is usually about 500 calories. Can be eggs, bacon, avocado and some sour cream. They said if you eat less your body might hold on to your weight and I would really want to lose weight and body fat. So should I force myself to eat or just don’t when I am not hungry?

Your body will tell you if you need to eat. If you are hungry, you should eat. If you’re not hungry your body is feeding off of your body fat.

Thanks for replying. What if I get hungry on those times that I should be fasting? Lol

Then you’re breaking your fast. Which is fine. Are you fat adapted?

How can I tell if I am fat adapted? Ive only been doing this woe for 3 weeks. But ive been doing good with the 16/8 fasting. Im not craving carbs or any sweets. My fasting blood glucose before were usually 150-190. Now it’s on the 90’s-110. I do keto strips from walmart and I’m almost to the darkest magenta/purple.

So yeah the idea with keto and fat adaptation is after youve been doing keto for 4-8 weeks with no cheating you should be really good at burning fat for energy, Your body will no longer be struggling to do this. At that point is when we all start to notice less hunger. The idea with fasting is not supposed to be something you force upon yourself. The idea is that we can now trust our bodies to tell us when we need to provide it with energy. The more body fat you have the more calories your body can harvest per day. When I did my 3 day fast recently, I did not feel any hunger. My belly would rumble from emptiness and i would be feeling nothing like the hunger pains I felt as a carb-burner. Once I provided my keto-rumbling belly with water, keto-aid, tea or coffee, the rumbles went away and I went back to not thinking about food or hunger.

I’ve just started another fast this afternoon, and I’m bored today so my mind is playing tricks on me and making me crave snacks. But I’m not hungry.

At hour 68 of my recent fast I was shopping and began to feel kind of weak, like walking around was very tiring, and I began obsessing in my mind about food and what I would eat. I realized, I was ready to eat.

I think you must be a very strong person with a strong will power and that is admirable! I think you can make yourself do anything you want. I think the thing we all need to come to terms with on this WOE, is that we no longer need to guilt and shame that came with eating when on the restrictive diets of the past. In this WOE, our body is a guide we can trust to tell us what we need. If you are hungry, eat. Eat until completely satiated. Until food no longer is interesting to you. When you look at your bowl yet half-full and say, no way I can eat one more bite. Only then will your body relax its grip on your body fat stores. It will notice that not once in the past 3 days have we gone hungry, not once have we felt denied anything.

Then we fast.

Thank you for those words. This woe has been great! Better than any “diet” I’ve tried.
