Questions About Eating Fruit On Keto
Thank you. I very much appreciate your time. Very informative. This answers my question perfectly.
I always did eat watermelon with salt on it, I am a salty person, it was too sweet without salt. I just wish the tree was a Granny Smith. Ours are very sweet,so when I have part of one it is usually in an apple and cheddar omelette, so on the savory side.
I need to check out that info from Dr. Lustig, he does have seem to be knowledgeable. Thanks for the info…
Might be this one…?
Sugar is Lustig’s thing so probably any presentation he’s done will mention its deleterious effects on the human body
I’m not saying that all fruit is bad but this is interesting. I also realize that juice is concentrated.
I don’t eat fruit, at first I had big cravings for it, now nothing.
Although, I will eat a avocado any chance I get, but not often just once every 6 months or so we go to restaurant that might offer. We don’t buy them in regular groceries.
I count my avocados as fats. I know they are a fruit, but the fat and fiber take care of any concerns I might have about them as a fruit.
You’re very welcome! Oooh, apple & cheddar omelette? Never thought of that, and I look forward to experimenting with that, thank you!
It’s in his both TED talk as well as that other video kind forum members posted here after your question! Such a nimble keto-fueled forum
The dietdoctor.com website has visual guides that compare the number of grams of net carbs per one hundred grams of a number of different foods. Here is the guide for fruits. The first list is for berries but when you scroll down, you’ll see other fruits represented.
Also, I use the Flipp app (or flipp.com website) to search local ads for sales. I’ll buy blackberries when they are on sale for $1.00 to $1.50 per ~ 6 oz. I’ll usually divide that into about 3 servings over a week, which is pretty affordable. I think this app may only work in the US.
Have you ever had Tajín?
If you haven’t it’s like a chili powder base seasoning and its a litt.e sour, sweat ,and salty. It goes great on fruit. Try it on your apples and the salty sour flavor might help balance out the sweetness of the apples.
Damn, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Not familiar with it, will see if it is available locally or on Amazon it sounds like something I would enjoy. And not just on a fruit. It sounds like something I would use with blueberries which I eat in season.
But honestly the only time I teat plain apple by itself is when I dip it in fondue, which I don’t have very often and the occasional omelette.
Can anyone tell me if Saskatoon’s is a keto freindly berry. I stay to only eating 1/2c of berries a day and want to know if Saskatoon’s is ok.
I am always learning something on this forum. While they seem like a super fruit with all kinds of nutrients, they’re pretty carby. Here you go.

Looks like good fiber, right at 6, so Net would be right at 12, not too much off from a couple of other berries, so not too bad and the potassium is high. Even has over a gram of protein. I think they would be a good occasional treat, while in season. I always eat any fruit now in season only, unless I grew it and froze it for winter.
