Question from stranger: Are you doing keto?!?

I was checking out at the supermarket the other day. We had a bunch of meat and spices/hot sauce. I was with my 11-year-old daughter, and the woman behind us asked her about our purchases. Amelia just told her, as a matter of fact, that we eat keto and that her parents use a lot of spice to make the food interesting.

I have started posting Yelp reviews for restaurants that are Keto friendly.
We have a favorite local TexMex restaurant that are great at doing keto substitutions IE: a big salad for rice and beans. Yesterday they asked if we wanted dessert I told the waitress that I was tempted to order the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers for dessert since I’m keto. She loved the idea and said she is going to offer it to other keto customers.

That is great that you are doing the Yelp reviews to help others in your area, and really lovely that the restaurant you went to and their staff is on board with being Keto friendly =).

Somewhat relevant

My wife was in surgery recovery this morning. The recovery nurse asked if she wanted some saltine crackers. She said “No, I try to avoid carbs”. The nurse said she understood and smiled. Then my wife started bragging about my oldest and mine weight loss. The nurse, who we found out is normally a critical care nurse and is studying to be a NP, started asking me a lot of questions.

I talked about hypertension reduction, belly fat loss (10 inches), wt loss and feeling so much better and more. The nurse was all positive and said her mom is just starting keto. then she said “A lot of people that work here are keto”

We want the health care system to change. Maybe it will change from the inside out.

BTW - My wife had minor foot surgery and is recovering at home nicely.

Glad she is doing well. Looks like you all are a happy keto family! I truly wonder how many health care members are “exploring” keto in practice or research.

Give your wife our best, and I hope that the pain in minimal, and it will heal well and she will be able to walk properly soon =).
