Question for women re: the love of my life

(Joe) #1

My wife is not keto. Though she has eaten lower carb since Ive gone keto. She is incredibly fit and very lean. She did a body composition assessment at the gym and was 14.8% body fat which is the low end of very lean. She does HIIT 3-4 times a week and strength trains. At35 yo, 5’3’’, 107 pounds she is 50 lbs lean mass. She eats very well and I have 0 concerns for eating disorders. She drinks a bottle of wine throughout the week.
My question here is… Keto aside is there any room for her to go any lower without jeopardizing her health? Is this a healthy body composition?

Before you ask, she is regular.
Thanks in advance.

There is no danger in her going lower carb with you. It can only make her healthier. If she’s a sugar burner she may experience the Keto flu without warning.

I have no advice, she sounds like a total babe though… lol (someone is one lucky guy!) The reason I am going keto (just started) is because of all the benefits that I’ve read on increased mental clarity as well as the ability to fast (without feeling like you’re dying) I’m not sure how your wife feels currently, but I think going keto has tons of benefits aside from the weight-loss aspects… it would also be sweet to do together

Spot on. TOTAL babe. She has been a fitness role model for me for a number of years (we have two children too) . I mean obviously fasting should never be an option for her. I just always hear BF% for women should be higher than in men. I just dont know much about keto at the low end of the spectrum.

And welcome to the forum! I spend way too much time here wonderful wealth of information!

There seem to be quite a few people here in maintenance, or wanting to gain weight. So your wife can have all the advantages of keto, without necessarily having to lower her body mass.

50 lbs lean mass? At 14.8% body fat, she’s more like 91 lbs lean mass? It’s neither here nor there, just noting

Yeah, maybe that number came from something else…15.84 pounds of fat on her = 91.16 lbs LBM.
