Question about labs & IR

(Keto in Katy) #1

I recently had blood work done and I’m wondering if anyone can help me make sense of this section of my lab report (image below) — it states that I have some Insulin Resistance / Diabetes Risk. I don’t see how this is possible.

I have been “lazy” keto for over four years now. I have felt great, my weight is perfect, good energy, etc. I don’t track macros but I eat mostly meat, eggs, nuts, butter, low carb veggies.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

A few other numbers from the report:
Total Chol = 296
HDL-C = 52
Trigs = 94
LDL-C = 225
LDL Particle Number: LDL-P = 2381
LDL Size = 21.3

I’m no expert but I think you’re fine. @richard to the rescue! :wink:

Most doctors would likely get pretty excited if they saw total cholsterol at 300. I know mine did.HDL and tryglicerides are ok but LDL should come down even with those results. I had similar numbers and Mayo Clinic put me on meds immediately.

You probably need to get trigs down to see a reduction in small dense LDL, which I think you should want to soo.

Trigs/HDL is the most predictive and that is fine. Anything below 2 is great.
