Potassium

I like carb manager better, Cronometer is ok but a lot stuff is wrong like avocado listed there with no potassium

(Empress of the Unexpected) #22

I think the problem might be that Chronometer comes up with different results depending on what you input. I input "Avocado, black skin, California type, and get 689.5 grams of potassium. I get 974.8 when I input “Avocados, Raw, all commercial varieties”. It would be interesting to know which avocado entry you are using. There are probably many more I am not aware of.

I take a little salt substitute in water. I don’t like avocados enough to eat them constantly. I did when I first started keto, but I got tired of them pretty quick. Now I take a little salt substitute every day. If I forget for a day or two I’ll start getting terrible cramps in muscles I didn’t even know I had. I actually had an ab cramp up the other day. I had to take a deep breath and bend over backwards to stretch it out and stop it. Back on the potassium and haven’t had a single cramp since.

I bought carb manager for a year, but I might quit keto because after 10 weeks and still not fat adapted :pensive: it’s very frustrating, I know I’m not fat adapted because the mosquitoes eat me up in the woods playing disc golf, and I cannot lose any more weight, stuck at about 224, I don’t know if my macros are set right because so many apps seem to come with different results

(Empress of the Unexpected) #25

Ten weeks is nothing. If you quit Keto what will you go back to?? I started losing around 10 weeks so hang in there. And the mosquitoes? If being covered in mosquito bites indicates lack of fat adaptation then, I am the least adapted person on the forums :rofl::rofl::rofl:. Tracking can be useful but it is not necessary. Just think meat and vegetables for a while and you will be fine. Or just meat if you are so inclined. When I string a few meat only days together I drop a few pounds.

Yes meat is great but eat too much like a did the last couple days then the protein my body doesn’t use turns to sugar and adds to my net carbs and might kick me out the whole reason for the app in first place lol

The two best sources I have found to get enough potassium are Morton’s Lite salt and tofu. Funny, people spend big bucks to get enough potassium when they can get all they need through these two sources.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #28

or avocados

(Championsidewinder) #29

Tofu is great for women but not for men, cause it raises a mans testosterone and will make bph worse, but avocado is good, only 2 g net carbs per avocado

I think you mean estrogen levels.

(brian denny) #31

Try SELFNutrition guide. They have a full range of nutritional profiles. I actually made an Excel macro that tracks Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, etc. including Omegas 3 & 6. Remember, when searching their food list to spell correctly! You can easily NOT
find Avocado if you type in avacado!

No testosterone

(Championsidewinder) #33

I meant decreases a mans testosterone

Thanks for the article. Yes, I am familiar with the data. By the way, it doesn’t decrease testosterone levels. It can greatly increase estrogen levels. As men age, their testosterone levels naturally fall so any increase in estrogen can have a big impact on them.

Careful, not all soy is bad. Learn about the difference between fermented and non-fermented. Fermented is usually okay especially if GMO.
