Don’t worry too much, it’s all grist for the mill, in any case.
Potassium can you truly get enough from food
There may be a difference, yes, I am not sure it matters much but it’s probably quite complex anyway. We very normal people lose fat when we forcefully restrict calories (we… as if I ever could do it myself it’s against my core personality, actually and my body would throw epic temper tantrums too) but I actually need to follow my body’s wishes. I go for a deficit but if I am hungry after eating 1.6 times my energy need (from meat and eggs, by the way, my top satiating items), I obviously keep going. See my 3000-4000+ kcal days on keto/carnivore with my ~2000 kcal energy need.
My body basically always wants too much food to have any chance at losing fat. 12 years weren’t enough to battle it effectively and ketosis didn’t help at all. It may be magical for others, not for me, automatic deficit doesn’t happen. Carnivore may have chances but not without multiple extra tricks. Like eating once a day, avoiding all added fats and minimizing fatty meat, among others.
I don’t have problems with gaining, I don’t do that, not even with carbs. I have problems with losing. It’s practically impossible for me. All my success happened before keto. It doesn’t mean I have any regrets but fat loss wise, I am almost doomed with my tiny energy need as I instinctively eat 2000 kcal.
That is one reason why others have more success. They often have much to lose and a high energy need so a deficit is easier.
Even I easily lost fat when I was 80kg eating much more carbs and being satiated all day (I ate 2000 kcal, of course as that’s what I do)! But now… It’s waaaaaay harder. Just like for so many women with not super much to lose. The magical stories aren’t about us and never will be.
Looking at my Chronometer - absolutely. I average about 2500-3000mg potassium a day from food. Sometimes up to 4000mg. My net carbs typically 25g…I don’t track total carbs.
Major contributors of potassium for me are:
Zucchini
Avocado
Chestnut Mushroom
Mackerel
Catfish
Daikon Radish
Ground Beef
Amaranth
Bell Peppers
Coconut Meat
Cauliflower
Lupini Beans
I’m sure there are more.
