Post-4 Day Ketone Urine Test

(Jacob ) #1

Hey everyone, so i am new here first of all! I am a paramedic here in Ontario Canada and i’m trying this new lifestyle change.

I began Monday January 15th 2018 which means i will be coming up on completion of day four. I just took my first keytone test and the results surprised me.

Results: LARGE 160 mg/dl (16 mmol/L) which is the highest that the sticks read. Is this normal, is this bad? I initially started limiting my carbs to between 8-11 grams per day as i’ve always kept my carbs low (even while not on the ketogenic diet).

Right on cue!

Always higher at evening/night than in the morning.

You can probably consider yourself as fat adapted now.

Throw the piss strips in the trash. Not reliable at all.

Oh yes. I wish people would stop relying on these things, but everyone has to learn…

No one is fat adapted after 4 days. He’s just not burning many of them yet and they are spilling over into urine. Proof he isn’t fat adapted.

@KetoParamedic you are doing perfect. Just buy a BK meter one day (you don’t need to however) if you are curious.
