Pork Rinds Flavors

(Robert Dockstader) #1

Anyone find flavored pork rinds with no sugar, maltodextrin, dextrose etc? I like the plain but would like another flavor if possible.

If you have access to Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods, they have some good brands.

in my experience, the BBQ flavored ones are higher in carbs but the hot and spicy ones are ok.

I spice my own.

I’ve started doing that as well. What do you do? The only thing I’ve tried is cheese powder/ garlic salt, but the cheese powder I have has ingredients I’m not happy with. I don’t want to use sweeteners.

Sigh. I was heartily enjoying flavored pork rinds, until I read the label. I was surprised at all the additional junk they put in there. Thanks to my foodie-wife, we keep a dry seasoning for ranch dressing handy. I mix this in to half a cup of sour cream, and dip my rinds for delicious culinary benefit.

Noted, there are other options. I’ve done chili powder and cayenne into sour cream, but if that revolts you (as it does my wife) I do hope you get the idea.

I really just like salt and pepper. I should try some smoked paprika though

Where do you get this ranch powder?? That and your other suggestion sound yummy!

It’s similar to this recipe: https://www.fivehearthome.com/homemade-ranch-dressing-seasoning-mix/

This is my go to seasoning for pork, beef and chicken. It’s great on potatoes too… we all least it was. I have potatoes on my reject list.
