Policy is moving towards anti sugar

Here in UK the teachers unions have said

across the world, slowly and surely we are getting towards the point of realising the damage sugar does

Except that sadly, their main concern is caffeine !

Let’s not worry about feeding more liquid sugar to obese kids.
Let’s worry about caffeine !
That oh so deadly demon.

All drinks over 10g of sugar should be banned from schools. Easy.

The enemy isn’t caffeine. Is it good for you ? Probably not. Is it all that harmful ? Definitely not. When looking at the poor drink choices promoted by schools … and you battle caffeine ?

If you want to improve kid’s health you battle the guy on the right. I see the teachers union is picking on the little guy on the left.

Let me introduce a friend of mine.

Do they still have water fountains in school ? or did the bottled water people shut those all down ?

I like bottled water, mostly because I despise the taste of chlorine. It’s hard to really get a good drink at a water fountain. About all I end up getting is a few good sips.

Having an option like sugar free sparkling water, maybe with a few flavors, (like lemon as an example), would be something I would appreciate. Having just plain water with some real lemon to go in it is probably asking too much in a school setting. (?)

All the schools in the area where I live have water fountains with the bottle filler stations built in.

Hmmmmm. Which is the least healthy? A candy bar, a granola bar, or a whole grain muffin? Providing they all have about the same number of net carbs.

See what I mean? It’s still not addressing the root problem.

if they all have the same then they are equally as unhealthy but of course one of them probably says fortified with something that is useless
