Polar bear effect

So yesterday at work I had the joys of university graduate who had spent quite some time studying diets and their effectiveness and a fitness trainer both young and both skinny little fkrs also both males and nether of them have ever had problems with their weight, tell me that intermittent fasting and no or low carb is no good for me if I want to loose weight.

I eat once a day mostly at noon and my meal is keto of course.so I fast for 24/25 hours a day. I do this as I don’t actually feel the need to eat rest of the time.

So the fitness trainer tells me that doing this is going to be the polar bear effect where I’ll put in more weight and my body will turn everything into fat , my muscles will deplete and turn to fat. I’ll put in loads of weight as my body will be in starvation mode.

The uni guy tells me I shouldn’t cut carbs out as it calories in Vs calories out. Just stick to s healthy high carb diet but keep the calories down.

I then tell them I’ve lost 32 pounds since Christmas doing this and I’m actually using my fat reserves.

My brain aparently can’t cope without carbs… Yet I’ve been fully functional without them for nearly 4 months now. I have a demanding job as a mortgage broker that requires all my brain cells to work.

I feel better than ever and I don’t feel deprived, I don’t crave foods and I don’t feel the need to cheat or bing on the diet. Any other diet I would have given up 3 months before and would have put on all the weight plus some by now feeling hopeless.

Another guy at work is doing 500 calories per day 2 days a week then crap the rest of the time. I suggested he should pop some butter in his soup the other day to stay feeling full the rest of the day and I swear his face had a look of mass confusion . Fat makes you fat …that look.

Another girl from work is constantly on slim fast … She actually doesn’t need too lose weight . But she would rather have a slim fast shake for lunch than eat actual food.

I can see that none of them get it. It’s fine. I’m carrying on with keto as it works for me. And when I’ve lost the total 84 pounds I plan to loose having only 52 left to go I’ll show them with my actions and not my words how keto is the way to go if you actually want to loose the weight.

There are so many species of animals that eat no carbs, they all survive generations after generations this way and may I add that we are the only species that feel the need to have processed food. Unless we of course fed the other species these processed foods in which case that is not their own choosing.

Polar bears being one of them so I don’t actually understand why he calls the body turning to fat that. I should ask him … Could be because bears put fat on their bodies over the feeding seasons to stay alive the rest of the time. Again this only shows fat being used as a fuel source to which that actually aids my argument over cutting most carbs out.

Show me the science Mr Fitness Trainer! Good on you for sticking with it despite all the unhelpful “advice”

Go with the ‘action speak louder than words’. :blush:They are convinced, because they are young and have not yet suffered the ill effects of their choices. And it will catch up with them at some time, and then one day, way back in their distant memory they will think ‘maybe that strange lady was right after all’ Meanwhile, you carry on - hang out here with us - and all will be well. Life is too short to waste your breath on know it alls.

It also supports fasting, because isn’t hibernation really the ultimate Fast?

I like this post

I never felt this good until after I started the keto.

I lost 8 kilos since I started keto. Before I tried several diets with no luck. I have to starve to loose weight which cause me to cheat and eventually terminate the diet
I stopped taking typeII medicine
My brain is clear. No foggy brain
I do not feel hungry all the time like before

It will take this trainer one thousand year to convince me to terminate the keto.

You know what’s so sad here is the regurgitation of what we are fed and believe from media, and lock-step universities in our despireration to find what’s true. Question your source for all your beliefs. The easily accessible media is not reliable, or factual. Anyone who has ever read an article about a person or event in the “news” about which they are intimately familiar will see serious factual errors. What occurs in this case is true in ALL that you read or hear. Do your own research, form your opinions on what to eat, how to manage your money, politics, religion, culture, etc. Good golly, media is a mess.

Your uni friend is parroting. Universities used to educate, now they indoctrinate. …jumps off soap box. Sorry, feeling ranty.

Great job and stand you took!
Touting the benefits and how YOU feel👍🏻
Being positive and not getting in to the rabbit hole trap, like you are doing something wrong.
