Hi There,
I miss the 2keto Dudes podcasts. It helped me stay focused on Keto… I know they come back from time to time… What do you listen to or watch to keep you inspired? I’m looking for new channels.
Thanks in advance!

I look for lectures by scientists. They are generally on the Low Carb Down Under channel, Ancestral Health Symposium videos, or lectures at Public Health Collaboration events. Crossfit sponsors keto conferences with some really good speakers, as well. I generally look for talks documented by citations to the literature, but there are also good speakers with interesting experiences to recount.
The scientists I look for are Phinney and Volek (of course!), David Ludwig, Robert Lustig, Catherine Croft, Grant Schofield and Karyn Zinn, David Diamond, Benjamin Bikman, Zoe Harcombe, Tim Noakes, Eric Westman, Chris Palmer, and of course the late Sarah Hallberg.
Lecturers who are not researchers themselves, but who are well-versed in the science are Georgia Ede, Michael Eades, Gary Fettke, Paul Mason, Peter Brukner, and David and Jenn Unwin.
And there are two science journalists, Nina Teicholz and Gary Taubes, who’ve done a great deal of research and who know the scientific literature backwards and forwards. Not to mention the citizen scientists, L. Amber O’Hearn and David Feldman.
There are plenty of others, but this is probably enough to get started with.
There’s no one on @PaulL’s extensive list who has ever disappointed! Some are more enjoyable to watch than others, but their content is reliable and almost entirely science-based. An excellent reference list of first rate youtube’rs.
(p.s. - I still miss the screaming dudes when it’s m-a-i-l time… or r-e-c-i-p-e-s…)
Yes! Those are great. I’ll check some of them out. It seems that there were a lot of podcaster that have kind of gone quiet – i.e. Low Carb UK is one I use to enjoy but they don’t seem to be updating. I love the science ones but sometimes it’s just nice to hear about other success stories etc. I wonder if people are not as interested so they are not creating content?
Low Carb UK is not updating. Not sure why. Peak Human is not too bad, but even he has gone somewhat anti-low-carb lately. The Meat Mafia is pretty good.
If you’re interested in science, Stem-talk is great, and they have some discussions of ketosis and both I believe follow a keto diet (they HATE the term “Mediterranean diet”). Dominic D’Agostino, Jeff Volek, Jason Fung, Ben Bikman, Vyvyane Loh, Mark Mattson, Tommy Wood, Gary Taubes, Rob Wolf, John Newman… All were very good to great.
Those are the only ones I listen to anymore.
Like Paul said, looking for lectures or interviews with LC/keto-friendly scientists (great list, Paul!) will always give you something to listen to. Even if what they say is not particularly new or groundbreaking if you’re already well-versed, I find the reinforcement helpful. I love listening to people like Ben Bikman being interviewed on YouTube, because he’s so good at explaining the science and latest studies in a detailed but accessible way for different audiences, and I always learn something (or at least get more of the nuance).
And Low Carb MD podcast has a good back-catalogue of quality guests - many of the big names have been on that show over recent years, from Fung to Taubes to Westman to Bikman, and even Carl Franklin himself.
It’s very sad. Dr. Phinney said that she managed to hang on until the five-year results of the Virta study were in. No one believed she’d make it that long (I want to say it was lung cancer, but I might be wrong about that).
Oh - AND - I can always find something interesting in the collection of presentations and lectures by all kinds of LC experts on the Low Carb Down Under YouTube channel (again, all the big names are there):

Also Zoe Harcombe who is not only an impressive intellect but also a personal friend:
Except Zoe was one of those that went off the deep end with Covid. I almost gave up listening to keto/low carb people for a while after Covid hit. Too many were in the “Covid will end soon due to cross-reactivity with other coronaviruses!” or “We should just let it run its course, since we can isolate the older folks anyway!” camps.
