I thought this might interest some people, I like to listen to Ben Greenfield fitness and while he’s not exclusively keto, he has utilized it in the past and is very familiar with it. This episode discusses autophagy (I am posting this before I have listened to it so forgive me if it’s not helpful!). His guests are sometimes kind of out there or they promote a product (which might be the case here) but there’s usually good info mixed in. Let me know what you think!https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/ben-greenfield-fitness-diet-fat-loss-and-performance/id283908977?mt=2&i=1000407137937
Podcast on autophagy
greenfield is completely untrustworthy IMO. listen to his podcast on Joe Rogans show for some good perspective. His podcast is a very high income source and he will promote/shill/endorse anything no matter how pseudoscientific or contrary to other things he has endorsed.
for those who are super sensitive this is not meant as a person attack on him (I don’t know him personally) its just my opinion, which I am of course entitled to in a free and rational world.
the facts are autophagy is barely understood. a lot of people are inferring a lot of things from Yoshinori Ohsumi’s nobel prize winning work, but it should be clearly stated that his work is on a cellular level and not a gross physiological level. Now we have people claiming autophagy can some how be directed to “clean up” 20 plus pounds of loose skin and connective tissue. Highly unlikely.
I definitely agree that he uses his podcast as an income source (which is why I mentioned the caveat that his guests are often promoting a product) but there is sometimes some interesting information if you can sort through the self promotion and his gimmicks, lol. I did just listen and there was some potentially helpful suggestions. But yeah I get how he can be kind of annoying and sensational
