Please help the Unwins by signing this petition

Hiya

I know I am not around as often as I used to be but I wanted to drop in to share this link because I knew you would want to help.

It is outrageous that some crappy newspaper in the UK could get David’s infographics removed from the NICE guidelines but hopefully this petition will put them back where they belong. The Unwins have done such great work and are two of the loveliest people I have ever met. You may well have met them yourself or seen one of their presentations. Please help support them by signing this petition. It takes less than a minute.

Thank you :pray::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

done!

Does it really help if we’re in the US?

#4

Yes, I don’t think it matters.

('Jackie P') #5

Done. I wanted to leave a comment but couldn’t work out how.
The ludicrous thing is that Dr David Unwin was serialized in the Daily Mail more than once with incredible success.
This stinks of corruption. How can the Mail on Sunday dictate NICE guidelines. Who paid them? I’m furious :rage:

It appears the fruit industry might have had something to do with it. :man_shrugging:

Done

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #8

I thought of that, too, but it’s possible that the Daily Mail during the week has different owners and editorial staff from those of the Daily Mail on Sunday. I know that different owners used to own the Times and the Sunday Times. (Don’t know if that’s still true.)

The problem is if you were to look at my blood sugar after eating a banana, you might pass out. I’m sure it’ll be high.

Let some “former Olympic triple jumper”, who is probably a lot more insulin sensitive than I am, take the same test, and the graph might not be as startling.

('Jackie P') #10

Yeah, he has been pretty verbal about his dislike of bananas :smirk:.

Yes I guess.
I find it quite shocking and sad. I particularly admire Dr Unwin. His honesty, hard work and humility. I was so happy for his success so late in his career, I’m sure he must be quite devastated.
It is particularly unfortunate that in the midst of a Coronavirus pandemic, when his advice could help so many, he is discredited in this way.

Matt Handcock is a total disgrace. He knows this stuff. :rage:

(Bob M) #12

Where do you comment? I can’t figure that out.

(Bunny) #13

But we love Dr. Unwin’s Charts!

The cornflakes look the tastiest, lots of sugar!

#14

I agree. And the DM of all papers - vile.

You should have been able to leave a comment when you signed.

Possibly, yes, or they are just fickle and flip flop all over the place!

Same old same old!!!

And on and on…

They need to check out Virta Health. They also need to do the experiment on someone who is currently pre or diabetic, not someone who has nixed it with low carb!

#15

Agree. It is ridiculous that they get all sciencey with GGMs over one food. Strap those bad boys on and take them for a 2 week ride and let’s see what’s going on with your BG eating bananas and cereal vs bacon and eggs.

We do. Simple and effective at getting the message across. Is the impact exactly the same for everyone as per their experiment? Well no, but equating foods with their rough equivalent in sugar is such a clear way to get the point home.

Interestingly enough The Indian Hospitals (United States Department of Health) across the United States uses versions if not exact copies of Dr. Unwin’s Charts. The dietitians at these hospitals give hand-outs of these printed charts with the little spoons showing how much sugar is in foods. Diabetes is the number one killer of Native Americans in The United States!

That is why I’m so familiar with Dr. Unwin’s charts!

('Jackie P') #17

Apparently his charts are available in 8 languages :slightly_smiling_face:
