Thanks guys this advice is really good as i do not want to be under my macro, i am very suseptable to bad eating habits affected by my mental health, these past 10 months i have gained weight but it would be very easy for me to get obsessive, undereat and end up with an eating disorder at the oposite on of the scale in another 10 months time so i want to ensure i develop good eating habits and create a health future.

I base my meal preps on the proteins that are on sale in a given week.

Very easy and very cheap, although the cost will depend on your local prices. My last meal prep included over six pounds of bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs and nearly three pounds of veggies, for under $10. That was nearly 7000 calories of food, so it would provide for a lot of meals.

Chicken thighs are probably going to be the best value, and best macros. I just meant to say you can do most things on a stovetop. Oh! And save your bones in the freezer from whatever you get and make bone broth! Free food that’s tasty and good for you!

I am from England the best things I have found so far are cooking bacon through this forum and i found beef/pork mince mix which is 25% fat and cheap for a 1kg bag, I would appreciate it a lot if you could help me as making meals out of what I found whilst staying in my macro is hard, all I have come up with is mince and lettuce :joy: I don’t think I can eat just that.

Hi Tayo, hope you’re doing ok.

Try adding herbs or spices to the mince. The Natco brand is good value for 100g bags of spices - half the price of the little jars. Make cauliflower mash or ā€˜rice’ to go with it. Gammon joints are relatively cheap and can be pot-roasted.

I do cheap and easy meal preps, but it’s going to depend on your local prices. I recently did a meal prep with over 6 pounds of chicken thighs and nearly 3 pounds of veggies for under $10.

But I suspect your prices will be quite different…

I do easy one-bowl chili and ā€œdumpā€ soups, usually with leftover meats and veggies. It’s really the spices that make the difference.

I suggest looking for liver. It’s inexpensive and loaded with nutrients that might help you feel well sooner. It doesn’t have a lot of fat, but is delicious smothered in butter.

I know ranch dressing isn’t a big thing in the UK, but it’s a great for dipping vegetables and…well, everything. It’s easy to make, and you can find a lot of recipes for it online. I think sauces in general would be great for you. It wouldn’t matter if you couldn’t find a fatty cut of meat on sale. You can always add mayonnaise, hollandaise, white sauce, gravy, etc. to anything you eat to make sure you’re getting enough fat. Egg salad is great, and it’s loaded with mayo.

Thanks i didn’t think of egg salad I like that, I am a very fussy eater, I’ve tries liver and it makes me heave, I think I will have to have tuna mayo and egg salad and stuff like that, thanks for your help.

Thanks appreciate it a lot, I will get it over to you asap, I’m pretty fucked today though, started my exercise plan but I forgot that I’d gotten fat so my old pace was hard to snap out of so now I have shin splints, my calves are strained and my throat and lungs feel like fire, on the positive side I burned 714 calories, being fat has it’s bonuses, exercise burns up a lot more calories than when I was thin. Budgets a hard one though because my income is all over the place so I’ll just work out an average and round it down. Thanks all this is a great help.

(Tayo Wilde) #32

True, I’m not too sure what one bowl chilli is I’ll look it up, $10 is just under Ā£8 that’s really good I will have to shop around, thanks for your help.

I will try the herbs and i wish I liked cauliflower because it seems like a good carb sub, I’m gonna try corgetti and possibly butternut sqaush noodles/fries, I’ll have to be careful with the sqaush though as I think it will be easy to go over my carb allowance, I’m also worried about under eating due to exercise, I enjoy running and football a lot and it would be easy to do too much and not eat enough and mess up my metabolism, its hard to figure out how big a calorie deficit I need though to healthily lose weight. Thanks for staying in touch and for your continued help and support.
