Pleace help! panicing... Why is my ketostix showing negative? no color

i have been on a keto diet for 6-7 weeks now, bellow 20 carbs

i feel like i am fat adabted, i havent felt this good in years, i have sick amount of energy now compared to before. yesterday i went on a 2hour run and 1hour strenght and conditioning and played poker online for like 5-6 hours. If my body ran on glycose from sugar and carbs i would not have been able to do that right?

yesterday i ate

Dinner: stake and bacon with salat lots of cheese, lots of butter with mayoneese. (mayoneese have 0,5g carbs witch are sugar) one can of coke zero

Snack: handfull of peanuts and cashew nuts

Lunch: salmon with egg, brocoly, cauliflower and salat. hollandaisesaus made from eggs. one can of pepsi max

Breakfast: minced meat from svine with 4 eggs and big ass salat. lots of oil and some hollandaisesaus made from eggs.

i drank about 5 liters of water.

why when i wake up in the morning almost 12 hours from last meal have i no ketosis (on stix)???

Don’t worry about the sticks and certainly be thoughtful about panicking. They are not an indicator of what’s happening with your body.

I like your menu but “lots” of cheese, “handful” of nuts, “big ass” salad, it’s hard to tell how much you’re eating.

Are you following your daily macronutrients to determine how many calories and percentage from carbs, fat and protein?

I understand the sticks can be validating, but they’re known to be inconsistent and only measure excess ketones anyway… If you stay under 20 carbs a day it’ll happen.

You must know the answer to this from reading this forum… THE STIX SUCK!! :scream:

If you are now fat adapted and efficiently burning ketones, you should expect little to no spilled ketones in your pee. You are using them up and not wasting them in urine.
This is a GOOD thing.
Remember, ketosis is NOT the goal per se, fat adaptation is. If you are desperate to check ketones, you need a blood meter but I think it’s a giant waste of time/money.

Trust the WoE and sack up :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

i used to messesure evrything i ate, witch was a drag i litrally spent 2-3 hours everyday meal preping and messesuring evrything. not macronutrients i dont know how to do that. but after a couple of weeks i felt like i figured out that if i only it healthy food. and make sure to fat evrymeal up i dont need to measurre evrything, becouse the food i eat with most amount of carbs are cauliflower. i dont usualy eat nuts eater, but my romate had it laying around and i could not help my self this day :stuck_out_tongue: the meat i eat is at most 1gcarbs per 100grams, the sause i use is 2g per 100g i use max 30g per meal, so i know i cant possible eat over 20carbs. but thanks for fast answer man :smiley: is it posible that i am so fat adabted now, that my body is not wasting any ketones and thats why my sticks are blanck?

I`le take your advice :slight_smile: as long as i feel great and nothing but healthy fats and green leafs enter my body i will not worry. i dont have the money for that meter or go to hospital or check. Thats why this site is a life saver to me, you guys are mutch appriciatet!

Remember (and this is general advice), if the word PANIC appears in your post that you are writing and it isn’t to do with:

  1. Trump/Kim Jong Il pressing the button :o2:
  2. the coming zombie apocalypse :zombie:
  3. tsunami/tornado/earthquake/terrorist attack :tornado: :bomb:
  4. something on you oozing, bleeding, inflating, turning black :coffin:
  5. meeting a large ravenous carnivore (and I don’t mean @Dread1840) :tiger2:
  6. ascending in a beam of bright light into a hovering UFO :flying_saucer:

then you should take a breath, think for a minute and you will probably realize that you are over-reacting to whatever keto thing it is.

Seriously, panicking produces cortisol (stress hormone :scream:), which causes insulin to be secreted and is likely to have a worse impact that whatever you are going on about.
