Plantar Fibromatosis - Any input appreciated

(Rachael D.) #1

I am very concerned for a dear friend of mine. She has plantar fibromatosis. It is basically lumps in the soles of her feet that are getting progressively worse and are extremely painful.
Wikipedia describes it as

Plantar fibromatosis
Autosomal dominant - en.svg
This condition is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner[1]
Specialty
rheumatology
[edit on Wikidata]
As in most forms of fibromatosis, it is usually benign and its onset varies with each patient.[5] The nodules are typically slow growing[2][5] and most often found in the central and medial portions of the plantar fascia.[2] Occasionally, the nodules may lie dormant for months to years only to begin rapid and unexpected growth.[5] Options for intervention include radiation therapy, cryosurgery, treatment with collagenase clostridium histolyticum, or surgical removal only if discomfort hinders walking.[6]
Understandably, she is beside herself.
I’m just wondering if anyone has had experience with this condition?
I’ve been keto/fasting myself for two years and have experienced a great deal of healing of my inflammatory issues. Was hoping to get some input as the radiation treatment for this condition only really shows temporary benefits. As does the surgical treatment.
Sorry for the Wikipedia cut and paste. I’m so worried about her but am reluctant to recommend this WOL as ypu know, when you have a hammer…

Here is lady who has this or similar looks like keto is working for her:

”…I also suffered for nearly 5 years with extreme foot pain. Two issues, plantar fibromatosis, marble sized knots running the length of my feet, and neuropathy, though not diabetic. I couldn’t even stand the bed sheet touching my feet at night time. After three foot doctors, a neurologist, hundreds of dollars spent on every kind of shoe out there, pain meds and 1200mg gabapentin a day for nearly 3 years, nothing helped. Two weeks into keto, I noticed less foot pain. Four weeks….pain free! It’s been 9 months now, still pain free. Neuropathy has improved to the point that I no longer take gabapentin or tramadol for pain. …”

I can’t really contribute but this is just another example of where other people’s troubles put mine in better context.

I will not moan (so much) about my fleeting gout flareups again :flushed:
