Planning to go to Reunion

It really depends on who you are and how well you know yourself. I had to be ‘religious’ with keto for a very long time (years). I know I was annoying but it was the only way I could maintain my direction. Only in recent years do I ever go off plan for a meal or sometimes even a whole vacation but even then I have limits as to what I will consume.

If you can be relaxed about it like you suggest, then great but not everyone can. In my experience in a situation like the poster proposed. I would never go on an empty stomach. I would have a nice keto meal in advance, then push around the food on my plate. People generally don’t really notice what you put in your mouth. If they did notice and said something, it would be fair to say you not really hungry. Would be true.

Then I could go home and not fight the carb addiction anew.

I agree. No need to sweat a single meal weeks in advance. I’m within 6 lbs of my goal weight and I’ve been doing this for 11 months. I tend to have a cheat night on Saturdays now. But I know for every gram of carbs I eat, I’ll retain 3 grams of water. So this past weekend, on Saturday night, my wife and I had sushi rolls and egg rolls (with a sweet dipping sauce). By Monday, I was up 2.2 pounds. Same as last weekend. Then by Wednesday, all the water weight is gone and I return to slowly burning fat. As long as you don’t panic about the water weight, you’ll be fine. Just know you’ll put on a couple pounds that are 95% water.

Is that US numbers Doug? 5. anything would rock my world? I’m a T2D, but are you equally bummed it’s so low? Sorry if I am misunderstanding the numbers, numbers are super hard for me to deal with. I’m recovering from what some call, a brain injury due to a medication I was put on/agreed to so no blaming from me, Denise

Yes, I have been pretty strict but it’s payed off. I just became so familiar with my meals, kind of boring to some (many even) but the benefits are, well, bordering on miraculous

I had a lot of help from my diagnosis of T2D though, not everyone is given that incentive. I know one thing for sure, I would have never lost the weight (or so many other benefits) if I hadn’t found Keto, by way of this forum, and the many “links” to youtube videos, studies, etc.

I see where I am loosening up a bit, but the other bonus for me is I don’t care from my old eating habits, or the foods. Last time I ate a piece of, I think it was halloween candy it was awful, or some sort of bread, yuck. It was all the things I’d put on the bread that made it taste good, and yep, sugary jams on my toast, syrup on my pancakes/waffles.

Thank goodness for no more sugar withdrawals between meals too!!

90 is the U.S. number, Denise. And by itself, it would roughly correlate with an A1C of 4.8.

But I was hoping for something in the 70s, 60s, 50s… after fasting for 5+ days.

Just saying that overcoming decades of insulin resistance is often a long-term, tough process, if it even can be done. There’s no real “turning back the clock” even if great strides can be made (and usually they can).

My A1Cs are normally in the 6s, and my last one was 7.3 - my own fault for eating carbs.

Ok Doug, I understand better now. I don’t do intentional fasts, so you were expecting super low because no food at all I think. I would be too, interesting to know how that may not be the case for me either. I do intermittent fasts just by not being hungry, and no cravings. I have my “dinner/supper” at 3-4 most often, then I don’t eat anything before bed, water only that is. Then I will eat breakfast-brunch at anywhere from 8-11 a.m. Just two meals a day. There are times I will just grab some nuts, pistachios are my faves, but nothing else any more.

I do eat sort of a dessert/treat after 20 minutes wait after both meals. 12 popsicles, 1 containing under 2 carbs, only stevia & monk fruit for sweetner. I use blueberries, Thai unsweetend Coconut Cream, 2 Good Yogurt, vanilla, lemon juice, and sometimes lime juice as well. Oh, and 2 scoops of my Collagen Peptides. Each popsicle is 2.5g of carbs so that’s about all the treats I have.

I tested after eating my dinner of meats/pork/Fish/Chicken only then a popsicle and never saw anything over 100 so I enjoy them, I never liked being too strict on my diet, as you can see, Denise:crazy_face: PS if I over-eat anything, it’s Fats, but I’m good on weight/shape so not giving those up. Before Keto, I would always cut off anything that looked like fat on my meats, now I shop for it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
