Pimples on keto only in the top Body area?

(aka Darius) #1

Hey guys I’m new here and looking for some advice.

I am in my second week of keto and it’s going great. Now I get the occasional pimples here and there but now they are multiplying like crazy but ONLY in the top Body area. Face, upper back, shoulders, chest and neck. None on the belly or lower back, none below that either. What could this mean?

I make sure to meet my macros and introduce some vegetables in my diet too so I’m not sure what’s going on. Is this normal?

Not to be a creeper, but do you shave your body? Your facial hair looks THICK, but you don’t have any body hair. Is it possible these are ingrown hairs or blocked pores from shaving?

Nothing creepy about that. No actually I have like 3% hair on the top Body area. I never shave since there’s nothing to shave :stuck_out_tongue:

Best guess is your body is getting rid of toxins. It takes a while for the hormonal balance to get it’s sh*t together. It’ll probably get a bit worse before it gets better, but THEN it will be AWESOME!

I occasionally get a pimple here and there all over my body. I got them before Keto also. I think pimples are just blocked pores and will eventually resolve, but other than normal cleaning I’m not sure how to completely avoid.

I read about that. I really hopes it goes away with time. Could actually just be hormones going nuts. I’ll update in a week and let you all know.

If anyone has any tips on toning this stuff down, I’m open for anything

I use a benzoyl peroxide cream on the visible ones to help dry them out faster, but otherwise, it’s hormonal and you’ll just have to wait it out.

Thank you for your tip! I’ll try it out. Hope the pimple invasion won’t make my face look like a pizza

I agree with Dewy333. Keto has a tendency to flush problems out in the open, so I think it’s just the toxins coming to the surface. It should work itself out. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for your input Annie!

I found that in ketosis I’m more sensitive to dairy. If I have more than a couple of ounces in a day then the next day I start seeing an increase in acne. Took a while to get down to that precise cause & effect but it’s 100% reproducible for me! Hope that helps. It’s at least something easy to try.

I got something like that too…only on my arms though ? I thought at first it was mosquito bites, but I don’t think so. The marks the pimples left are taking weeks to disappear and I’m reluctant to wear short sleeved shirts because my arms look like I’ve been auditioning for Trainspotting…

Hah! Thanks for the laugh!

There you are ! And this is them eventually fading. No wonder the blood testing lady was giving me funny looks…

Could be a lack of vitamins A and B complex. We are honestly in need of some supplements in this diet as raw veggies don’t carry the nutrition in abundance due to soil mineral depletion.
Try using a cleanser with charcoal as well.

This looks very much like a sensitivity to excess protein. If you do a search for high protein rash in any search engine you will get a very similar set of images.

I suggest you look at the amount of protein you are consuming and maybe reduce it a bit.

Just wanted to update the situation. What Nithiyan said was what did it. Apparently I introduced a bit too much Protein into my macros. I decided to cut it from 140g Protein to 90-100 a day or less and the pimples just slowly started fading in the next few days.

I WAS kind of eating a LOT of cheese, chicken and eggs. As soon as I ate less of those and more bacon and higher fat meats, everything went back to normal.

Nearly all pimples are dried out and healing at the moment, on my face and on my front/back.

Thank you guys for all the help!

Would be nice to know if you are male or female so when I am trying to find info I can relate to, to answer my questions  cause I was reading about zits during keto and then thinking it’s a guy then I read “your period might be causing them zits” then I’m like this is going in the wrong direction lol then I have to go to reading a whole bunch of other people zit story’s then read 6 paragraphs then to find out the person is a female. So, male or female should be under every username
