Gorgeous day for a ride on Sunday. Two of my friends bailed last minute so I made it more of a training ride than a mere enjoyment ride. You know, where you push yourself more than you PROBABLY should? Yeah… So a balmy 65 degrees, minimal wind, and lots of interaction with nature. A huge falcon was in the middle of the path at one point. Stopped to admire and photograph. So then, back at it… helped fix a little kid’s bike and happy to encourage new riders of all ages as they were trying out the pathway.
Mind you I never had times these good when at peak conditioning. Now down to 4 and 5-minute miles, my average being 4.40 had a permanent smile on my face. What I amazed myself with even more was I gained on a person on a hill. I have NEVER done that before - let alone a fit person! Ah - small NSVs for my mind.
Mind you though, there will always be haters. And even 91 pounds lighter, someone had to make a comment about me being fat. “Didn’t know a fattie could go so fast.” Thanks, random woman, for the unintentional compliment lol. The joy of riding and feeling so free can’t be spoiled by petty people. My day had far too many happy moments of connection, accomplishments and kindness. Keep calm n bike the hell on, right?
Aye, people. Did I mention I did that all on a 20 hour fast? keto and IF for the win!
