I work in a medical clinic and a person came in after having been referred to a local pain clinic for fibromyalgia. During her visit to the pain clinic, she was given a packet of info recommending a keto diet at her intake appt. to reduce her inflammation. She was a little freaked out but I was able to show her how my wedding ring slips on and off nicely when I haven’t been eating carbs.
I have requested the packet and now I can refer people to keto by telling them that the pain clinic recommends this!
Pain clinic recommends keto at intake
Wow, what great news that they are helping pain with keto and support it. Are the pamphlets a true keto, or LC high protein?
K
She said it is specifically a Keto diet. I haven’t received materials yet but the materials explain the diet and give recipes. I am interested in having a letterhead type handout so I have “evidence” if I tell someone about the recommendation. Also, the American cancer society recommends a low carb diet and when I run across someone who is having a biopsy I refer them to dr fungs blog about cancer and tell them that a low carb diet is called Keto.
I have a friend who has been Keto for around 6 months and has had remarkable improvement in her fibromyalgia. She is very social and has strayed from the Keto WOE several times and has paid the price in pain. She is no longer willing to stray!
Yes, what a hopeful thought for arthritis or fibro suffers! I listened to an older podcast of Richard and Carl dropping my kids off this morning and Richard was saying that if he eats any carbs, that he has pain with old joint injuries.
I have a bad knee and I know when my wedding ring is so tight that I can’t get it off that I will be hurting!
I have fibromyalgia and feel like my pain is now minimal. The only time it goes up is if I have wheat or too many carbs.
Awesome Patti, So glad you are having positive effects too.
Another good reason for this “extreme” diet we are on. (tongue in cheek).
