Otc cgm?

#1

I understand there is an OTC product (Stelo?) — maybe there are others? I used a FreeStyle Libre 3 for a few months and found it to be quite interesting for me to see what impacted my blood sugar and by how much. Maybe it is the fact that I am an engineering professor, but I think having data is helpful… Any suggestions as I am sure I am not sure I can get a scrip for one.

Looks like there’s a few:

I tried the Stelo. You can get a few month’s supply (I got 4 sensors, 2 months), though they push you toward a system where they send them every few months.

You have to sign up online to get any real data. I was disappointed, as 50% (2 of 4) of the sensors failed on me.

If you try it, let us know. I’d like to see what your result are.

Now, I want the continuous ketone monitor to come here.

One thing I couldn’t figure out was how “accurate” the Stelo was. I started with the Keto Mojo blood sugar pin prick device to test, but those seemed to be all over the map. That is, super high morning blood sugar I did not think I had, then much lower morning blood sugar the next day.

I did a search for “most accurate pin prick blood sugar monitor” and bought one that supposedly was within 9 percent of actual blood sugar. I got readings from it that were above, close to, or below what the Stelo said. These were readings done when my blood sugar should be stable (as if you compare when your blood sugar is moving, there’s 15 minute or so delay from when your blood sugar goes up until when the interstitial fluid in your arm would have the same reading). I was never able to determine how accurate the Stelo was.

So, I was using the Stelo to tell me trends or what happens when I eat something, and not for its “accuracy”.
