Orgain Organic Protein on Keto

#1

Hello all,

I am new to Keto and just getting started. I do pretty intense weight training workout 3-4 times a week and also do high intensity circuit training/running 2-3 times per week. For my Post workout I have been using Orgain Organic Protein Plan Based Powder that I get from Costco.

Is this ok to take after lifting or will it throw off my ketosis? The front of the bottle says “3 Net Carbs”. In Keto is it really about “Net” carbs or just “Actual” carbs in the food?

Sorry for the loaded question but I appreciate the feedback.

Here is the ingredient list of the protein: Orgain Organic protein blend (organic pea protein, organic brown rice protein, organic chia seed, organic hemp protein) orgain organic creamer base (organic acacia gum, organic high oleic sunflower oil, organic inulin organic rice dextrins, organic rice bran extract, organic rosemary), organic erythritol, organic natural flavors, organic alkalized cocoa, sea salt, natural flavor, organic acacia gum, organic stevia, organic gua gum, xantham gum.

Everyone’s different with regards to how they seem to handle this. Personally I had better results avoiding net carbs and counting the gross as my 20g total.

If rice is a trigger food for you that might not be the best choice. Also if you can’t handle erythritol or stevia. And as Dread said, depends on the individual as far as net grams vs grams. Just try it and see if it works for you.
