One More thing I like about keto

#1

Sure, I lost 55-60 lbs in 6 months and am back to my high school senior weight. Sure I went off statins and had to cut my other medications in half. Sure I had to spend a bunch of money on new clothes or tailoring. Sure I went from borderline diabetic to great blood numbers. But the amazing part is that here, 11 months in I go off to Italy and basically eat whatever I want including pizza pasta and desserts and I come back having gained NO weight at all.

Yep, I had expected the worst and was getting ready to have to really go nuts. But here I am , maybe n=1 and am pretty amazed.

Happy to “help”. I hesitated for a long time before outing myself as a pedantic meddler…

I thought it was an excellent post and I wanted to make a preemptive strike against the mining/rock puns that might mar it… :yum:

Congrats on your amazing non-scale victories!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

This gives me hope for my trip to Vienna at the end of the month. I don’t want to go mental; stuffing Sachertorte and pastries, but I did think I would like to try a buttery schnitzel with salad or something like that. :yum:

I found that I didn’t revert to my REAL old habits… eating 3-5 portions of bread with each meal, eating pizza or pasta week past hunger levels…desserts at lunch and dinner along with multiple sweets at breakfast… no wonder I was such a tub of lard.

But what I found being fat adapted that eating a dessert or pasta or bread in reasonable moderation even for 10 days didn’t impact me. One day I made the mistake of estimating it all back into cronometer and was like 450 grams of carbs. That’s a pound. 18 days worth. When I got home I did go back to straight 25-30g max carbs and didn’t weigh myself for a few days… but then it was just where I started. Nobody more surprised than I was.

But for (n=1) me, I’d eat a Sacher torte and not scrape breading off that wiener schnitzel and maybe have some spaetzle… but then back to our WOE.

YMMV!
