On the go!

Alright team can I have a little help please… during the night my dad was rushed to another city for a liver transplant, we had to drop everything and go straight away. So I haven’t packed any food or organised any meals. Any tips on foods to grab on the go? Meals to eat when out? Etc. I’m going to be in and out of hospital for the next week or so. I will get to the supermarket at some point but just need some ideas to keep me going in the mean time.

Thanks guys

The same principles apply: meats, eggs, fish, cheese, cream, etc. Bunless bacon cheeseburgers are a good option. It’s a bit more work but just check ingredients and keep the carbs very low.

In your situation (in my opinion) the most important thing is your dad and being there for him, so if you slip on the diet a bit just do your best to stay with it and don’t stress about it. Best wishes to your dad, I hope all is well.

If you’ve got a Sheetz or Wawa or 7-Eleven nearby, most of them now sell keto-friendly snacks like cheese sticks wrapped in salami, etc. More expensive than what you’d get at the supermarket, but very convenient when you need something quick and keto-friendly.

Nuts and pork rinds are good handy snacks that don’t require any refrigeration.

Your guys are amazing thank you so much!

And congrats to your dad for getting a liver!

I second what Stacy said. If you can keep Keto with all the added stress, all the better. Can you grab a salad or something from the hospital cafeteria? How about adding a pouch of tuna for protein?

Here’s hoping for a quick recovery for your Dad.

Thanks for your support! Yes I’ve sorted some places I can eat near the hospital and popping to the supermarket tonight. Thoughts on bone broth?

If you cant find a restaurant of café near by that will sell you some of theirs that has been made fresh, pick up some stock (bullion) cubes from the supermarket and mix with hot water. Not as nice as home made, but it will tide you over for the short term. Hope your Dad is recovering well!!

I don’t really have anything to add to whats been said but just wanted to send you a hug and wish you lots of strength and all the best for your dad :pensive:

Avocado, deli meats

And to add to the already mentioned foods…sardines?, boil some eggs for the first few days?, butter in a cooler?, coconut oil? nut butter?

And I agree, the most important thing is being there with your Dad.

Hope all goes well.
