On a fast 5 days in, ketones at 4.8 mmol

I’m on the keto diet but I’m doing an extended fast to get through a weight loss plateau. I’ve lost about 7 pounds and I’m on day 5. Is 4.8 a good ketone level for an extended fast? Or is it too high?

I’m 77 hours in and ketones are 6.

Don’t stress, it’s fine.

If you are not type I diabetic then there may not be an upper limit to ketones. (At least that you need to worry about).

Before long, your device won’t be able to go high enough (mine stops at 8).

NOTE: I am NOT a doctor and this is NOT medial advice… If you feel ok with ketones that high (I feel like a ninja!) then keep calm and fast on!

Haha, thanks, brother! I’m on day 6 and I’ve lost almost 10 pounds. And I feel good except for a little bit of fatigue. I’m 12 pounds away from my goal weight and I’m super excited!

Good on you!

Be aware, you’ll likely put on about 1/2 of your weight loss due to hydration levels, don’t sweat it!
