OMG Blood Sugar test

(Laura) #1

So I just did a blood sugar test today to see if diet soda really would raise my glucose levels. On a recent YouTube video I watched it was stated that aspertime does not break your fast because it doesn’t raise your glucose/insulin. (Not sure if I am using the correct terms here)

I have fasted since 7pm last night…Tested my blood at 10:30 glucose was 70, drank 1 diet Mountain Dew , no food and tested again at 12:30 glucose was 80!! Omg I had no idea my body was so sensitive to aspertime…I love all that I am learning about my body with this WOE!! I think I will try wine next :grinning:

You generally want to avoid artificial sweeteners when fasting. They may or may not cause a glucose spike, but they do affect insulin which negates most of the benefits of fasting.

Alcohol usually will lower your blood glucose. (It does mine). The liver stops making glucose.

Alcohol makes your liver fat and insulin resistant so it’s best to avoid…(damnit)
