Oestrogen

Today I saw somebody claim (not on these forums) that when wonen lose weight (burn fat), oestrogen gets released in the blood stream. I wonder whether that is the case. Does anybody know?

It does seem to be possible. Many women (and some men) on these forums have reported wild hormonal activity after going keto, and it seems to have resulted from things that got stored in the fat cells along with the fatty acids. I wouldn’t say it’s true in all cases, or even in the majority of them, but it is true for a significant minority of people, at the very least.

Yes, that is true. Oestrogen is actually stored in the SUBCUTANEOUS FAT, and when you lose weight, it is released into your blood stream.

When you initially burn through a bunch of fat, the estrogen stored in your fat is released. When it is released in conjunction with the estrogen normally released from your monthly ovulation, it can cause a surge greater than your uterus is used to, causing abnormal bleeding.

No offense, Katie, but I am so glad I’m not a woman. What you people have to put up with . . . . :scream:

That makes sense. Thank you!
