NPR this week

NPR seems to be focusing on diabetes this week. Does anyone want to share their perspective on the ketogenic diet?

Tomorrow (3/6/18) on my local NPR station, WNYC in New York, is focusing on diabetes in the morning call in program “The Brian Lehrer Show” (10am-noon EST). Perhaps some of the well spoken folks here might want to call in an give them a keto perspective?

Just throwing it out there.

Wonko, thanks for throwing your post out there.

A problem with keto & diabetics is that diabetes is a serious condition that requires medical oversight. Although keto has been demonstrated to be a benefit to diabetes, implementation of a keto diet to a diabetic can result in radical medical situations (i.e. interactions between the keto diet and any medications). Medical opinions (contrary to ADA recommendations) may place medical professionals at some level of risk/jeopardy.

The health epidemic the NPR seems to be focused on this week is the preventable form of diabetes (Type II). This is something that the keto diet is very beneficial for (Come on Carl or Richard, help me out here!). I know for myself that the Keto WOE has returned my A1C to normal ranges and reduced my cholesterol.

I was hoping that someone better spoken than myself might want to call into this radio show tomorrow since the topic was diabetes(II) and to raise awareness of the keto diet. It’s a radio call in show, where J Q public calls, so I am not asking medical professionals to put the credibility on the line, just those of us that have had experience reversing diabetes.

Can you image just one person calling in? They might thinks he’s a weirdo. And two people? Well they might think they are just crazy! But can you imaging 50 people calling, 50 people, all talking about the ketogenic diet? They might think it is some sort of movement! And that’s exactly what it is folks, the 2Ketodudes anti-type2 diabetes movement and all you got to do to join is sing it the next time it comes around on the guitar… with feeling. (sorry, I’m a big Arlo Guthrie fan :))

You are both right. Keto is a very powerful therapy for reversing T2DM. Because of that, if you’re taking meds and want to go keto, you have to get your doctor on board to adjust your meds as you go. The good news is, most people eventually come off all meds.
