Now What Do I Do?

Well I know “now what” but wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I have been in ketosis since Jan 10. Didn’t stray once in the first four months. Love this WOL and started fasting with ease. Also love that. Lost a few pounds and they came back with a couple more. Have lost those but nothing more. I was insulin resistant and turned that around. 13.1 fasting insulin in May(don’t have Jan numbers) and two weeks ago got my new results. 4.4! I’m so happy with this NSV as is my doc but how, how, how, can I have done this good work with virtually no weight loss? 5’7" woman, 51(yes hormones in play) with 50-60 pounds to lose. I am basically no carb now and lots of alternate day fasting with no eating after dark so that looks like one big lunch every other day. Is this even possible? Apparent-LY! I’m going to keep calm and keto(and fast) on, but this is so frustrating. I can’t read posts about stalls because in 8 months I haven’t even started!!

I’m a man, so I’m no expert on women. Far from it. But I’ve been doing keto and research long enough to make a suggestion. Weight loss is a side effect, not a guarantee. What you’ve experienced are the main benefits of keto. Weight loss may be your goal, but getting healthy should be enough to keep you from getting discouraged. Hopefully. Maybe add in a little exercise? Daily walks. Body weight workouts.

Thanks. I run 3-5 days per week, at least 4 miles. 6 miles my fav. I walk and do HIIT workouts at home as often as I can. Just doesn’t seem fair. I am so relieved to have my numbers on paper. I’m sure my friends and coworkers think I’m closet-eating doughnuts all this time!!

You’re most likely not eating enough. Eat more so you can boost your metabolism. Stop fasting so often and get yourself adapted to USING calories properly. You might gain even more at first but you’ll set yourself up to be burning calories properly and not feeling hungry all the time.

Take it from me, I fasted my self to a burnt metabolism and gained a good chunk back. It’s not worth it if you don’t massively feast to make up for missed days.

So true for all of us on so many levels

I tend to look at things this way. If I’m following a certain pattern and I’m not getting the desired results, then maybe I should change the pattern. You may want to curtail the workouts and the running. Who knows? It may help unblock something.

I’ve felt less useless about this since I worked out that women aren’t, either

Tina, what’s been happening with your dress size? Have you lost any inches at all? If so, take comfort in that, as it means you’ve been losing fat. Your scale will be confused if your body puts on muscle while metabolizing fat, so measurements are often a better sign of progress than the scale.
