Finally! My blood ketones are 1.7+. It took me a looooong time to get into ketos. Now that I am in ketosis, my energy levels have plummeted. I am tired all day and need to drink cup after cup of coffee just to stay alert. Anyone else have this and what do you do for it?
Now in ketosis! But I have NO energy!
You wait. It should get better. It might be worth playing around with electrolytes to see if you have improvement
I bought a bunch of minerals and vit b complex along with beef liver caps, adrenal and thyroid support supplements and when I take them I do feel better. Recently added Spirulina from Hawaii and a hearty probiotic. If I donāt take these for a few days I feel sluggish after being 10 months Keto. I have dropped 20 pounds pure body fat and think at some point we may need to incorporate some healthy carbs? I really feel like I need to be a scientist to know some of this stuff even after hoards of self research. Urine is cloudy and havenāt eaten much veg, increasing my veg and ACV is sort of helping.
Go back through your diet, your obviously not eating enough carbs to enter ketosis, but are you eating enough fat to have fuel for energy? Thatās a very common thing people do. Remember until your fat adapted whether urine or blood, your body sucks at burning ketones as a fuel because itās still expecting carbs more than anything.
If Iām feeling tired or lethargic, I put a pinch of salt on my tongue and let it melt. Literally in minutes, I perk up.
Alright
Was wondering how long they had been on Keto. Thinking they are fat adapted already.
Salt or fat. If Iām feeling lethargic and know that I have had good sleep one of those two usually help.
My fiancĆ© is a nutritionist who deals a lot with supplements. Be careful with which brand of supplements you take. The ones with synthetic vitamins donāt get used very well in your body (the body is smart and knows itās made in a lab). Try going with companies like Standard Process. All their vitamins are made with real food.
She put me on them and I could tell a huge difference from the One a Day Menās and the āfish oilā etc I was taking.
If you would like to speak to her, direct message me and I can get you her email. She loves talking health and wants to help people
Thanks for the replies.
Hereās the thing⦠I have high blood pressure and am on three different medications: one being a diuretic. When I eat salt, I start to feel bloated. I also take magnesium citrate and potassium but was told on a Keto Facebook Group that I should only be taking magnesium gluconate (?). Is this right? If so, how much should I take? How much potassium? Where do I get electrolytes from?
Thanks in advance!
Donāt know about the potassium, but I am not HBP.
Electrolytes - I think Brenda Zorn on this forum has a recipe, otherwise google āketo adeā or variants of that.
Mag. Citrate - is used alot for constipation, I donāt know if that might be causing you to retain fluids.
I myself take Mag. Glycinate, which is said to be more absorbable. I believe it helped me in the early days of starting keto, my experience was very little āketo fluā (Iāve been taking mag. glycinate about 3 years thoā¦)
Chris Kresser - has a blog and site with several health concerns covered - from at least a paleo understanding perspective.
Forgot to add - try to not pile on too many changes at one time.
Your body is making a major adjustment, give it all the time it needs and it will pay you back!
Check with your HBP doc.
Best wishes!
