Not sure what state Im actually in

I have been eating keto -ish for a few months. Im not good at tracking macros. I probably dont get enough of anything as i am rarely hungry, I keep hearing only eat if you are hungry. Full disclosure, my job requires that I go out for drinks most nights of the week, I dont drink tons, but it is “required”. I always test positive with the stix for ketones. All that being said, I am not losing weight or inches.
Thanks

I am in California.
You must be drinking a lot if you don’t know what state you are in. :grinning:

Drinking stalls ketosis - your body will deal with alcohol before anything else (this must be true, I heard it on a podcast). It is also a bunch of extra calories and leads to over eating (the munchies).

You need to come up with a good lie about needing to abstain from this requirement (something strong enough for you to look like an idiot if you do keep drinking with that crowd):

  • I am diabetic
  • My doctor said “No more alcohol”
  • I have sleep apnea
  • I have insomnia
  • My significant other will leave me if I keep drinking

NO ONE is “required” to drink and as you get older you will find that it interferes with many more goals in your life than just trying to stay on keto.

I remember when I used to “go out with the boys” for drinks after work. I knew what it was doing to my body and decided enough was enough. I wasn’t going to allow peer pressure to dictate my health. I started ordering club soda with a twist. Several of my cohorts said out loud they admired my stance. Don’t know if that will work for you but it did for me and I gained respect. Good luck.

“Required?” Really. I have worked in a lot of different fields, but there is no way I have ever been required to drink. That’s insane.

I’m in Virginia and like the idea of a drinking required job! :grinning:

Eat more please.

Hey!! What kind of drinks? I’ve adjusted my macros and use a free app. MyFitnessPal. I change it with every 10 lbs I lose. Smart carb free drinks. Lots of water. You’ll be alright. Do you test blood ketones?

I think the ‘requirement’ is more the peer pressure that you are feeling.
Why can you not order non-alcoholic beverages? Is that not possible?

I’m on some medication so I shouldn’t drink with that- people ask me regularly why I’m not drinking, & usually accept it. I feel so much better not drinking- I used to drink like I used to eat; guzzle down as much as possible quickly & feel bad afterwards!!
It might be worth a try to say something like that as an excuse for a few weeks & see if it helps you lose weight/ feel better?
