I am at a loss for whats going on with me. I have been keto for 17 months. I’ve stuck with it and have lost 50 pounds - I have about 35 more to go. I came to keto for the weight loss, it is still important to me, but I stay keto for the numerous NSV. I have been OMAD 5 days of the week and I eat more 2 days of the week. I can’t quantify it, but its more like 2 meals a day. Since becoming fat adapted I have worked out daily while fasting. I took a break from walking and working out ( a good 6 weeks) - I live in Houston, the heat has been glorious. I am back to walking and working out but find that I am hungry almost all the time. My net carbs are calculated at 26 grams a day - thats 5% of total calories, but I rarely consume that. I feel tired, like i could take a nap, I don’t desire carbs, I just desire food. I steadily have lost inches, I buy new undies every month. The weight is on again off again I console myself that as long as the inches keep coming off, we are ok. I am perplexed at this hunger and fatigue. It almost feels like a redo of the keto flu. Why am I hungry and tired? Any idea?
This forum has been my personal library - thank you in advance to anyone who can help me decipher what is going on.
Not Sure what is going on - Please help
Maybe follow your body and eat more for a time. See what happens.
And it might take a while. I’ve been low carb/keto since 1/1/14 and have lost around 60 pounds, but have also gained more muscle. The first pounds came off easily, the last have not, to the point where I gave the scale up months ago. But my belts are showing improvement, so I’ll keep going.
Thanks Bob, that is exactly what I am doing. Just going with it. I am just hoping I didn’t ’ break’ anything. Do you think it’s related to my 6 week break from exercise?
It’s probably just a coincidence. Have you had your T3 and T4 checked lately? Possibly your thyroid is acting up.
Yes I did have them checked. My T4 was too low but my T3 was fine. I’ve already been on new meds for 2 weeks. I have hypothyroid acquired. I have half a thyroid. I haven’t really felt a positive change. Thank you for your help.
My first reaction was could you need some extra sea salt or Himalayan salt adding in to your diet? If it has been really hot in Houston you may have sweated some electrolytes even without the workouts.
Thanks Polly! You were right. I started drinking ‘keto aide’ after working out and all my symptoms have dissipated. THANK YOU!!!
